Is the VMAs 2022 rigged? ARMY say 'be serious' as Jack Harlow wins over BTS and Beyonce
NEWARK, NEW JERSEY: It is that time of the year again with MTV’s Video Music Awards 2022 honoring the best of the best Western artists. However, they have also started branching out and acknowledging the talent and influence of international stars from Latin America to Asia. In fact, The VMAs 2022 was a good night for K-pop with BTS, Blackpink and Seventeen winning. However, some fans think the VMAs 2022 is rigged as Jack Harlow ended up winning over Jungkook and even American superstars Beyonce and Nicki Minaj.
We had some iconic songs being released over the last few months and taking over our summers. And so for the ‘Song of the Summer’ category the nominations included the likes of Beyonce, Charlie Puth and BTS’ Jungkook, Doja Cat, Future and Drake, Harry Styles, Latto and Mariah Carey, Lizzo, Nicki Minaj and many more currently popular artists with viral hits. The winner was Jack Harlow for his single ‘First Class’. However, this has led to BTS fans slamming the VMAs 2022 for rigging the event as they wondered how he won over a BTS member, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Drake and others.

Jack Harlow wins ‘Song of the Summer’ over BTS and Beyonce
Since its inception in 2013, ‘Song of the Summer’ has been a fan-vote-based category as VMAs awards one hit single voted to be the best song of the first half of the year. The first song to be awarded had been unsurprisingly ‘Best Song Over’ by One Direction which had been the song of 2013. In 2020, VMAs awarded Blackpink for ‘How You Like That’; for 2021, it undoubtedly went to BTS for the Billboard-topping ‘Butter’.
While for the VMAs 2022 category, there was no one clear winner, some unhappy fans are claiming that it was rigged since there were better hits than Jack Harlow’s ‘First Class’. BTS fans are also pointing out their influence and wondered if Jack Harlow’s fanbase was bigger than theirs to get him more votes for ‘First Class’ than Jungkook’s record-breaking collab ‘Left and Right’ with Charlie Puth.
