Garam bullying row: Le Sserafim fans support idol after reports claims she acted out in defence

Kim Garam is in a school bullying scandal with her company HYBE claiming that she is innocent

K-pop Twitter has been on the fence about Le Sserafim’s Kim Garam as she was embroiled in a scandal even before her debut. An alleged classmate had claimed that she had been a victim of Garam’s bullying in school. Other alleged former classmates also claimed that Garam had been part of gang fights, been rude to students and teachers and had assaulted classmates. There were also photographs on social media hinting at Garam being a school bully which led to the general public dropping her. However, her company HYBE has been stating that she was innocent.

HYBE had shared that they were putting Garam on hiatus for her mental health but she was innocent and actually a victim of cyberbullying. Unfortunately, a document that was later verified by the school violence committee stated that the Le Sserafim star had received a level 5 punishment - the highest level of punishment for school violence. HYBE had claimed that Garam's actions had been out of defence when the alleged victim had bullied her friend by posting a photo of her naked. Well, according to a new rumor, it seems that Garam did indeed get the level 5 punishment for threatening texts but no physical assault.

Deleted tweet claims school confirms HYBE's statement

According to a tweet by a fanbase on July 13 that has now been deleted, a source claims that Garam’s school now declares that the alleged bullying that took place which led to the level 5 punishment was because of the Le Sserafim member defending her friend. The fanbase had tweeted in Portuguese, “A trustable declaration from Garam’s school confirms what was said in HYBE’s statement. According to what was mentioned, the supposed victim took a photo [of] Garam’s friend while she was naked and Garam reacted in her defence.”

While there is no other evidence, fans are hopeful that HYBE will officially address this rumor as it could make or break Garam’s case. Well, following the new revelation, fans have been protesting on social media to end her hiatus and let her rejoin Le Sserafim. Kim Garam has been on hiatus since May 20 and there has been no update on the situation. We last got a glimpse of the 16-year-old idol after she was seen in pre-recorded content for Japan promotions in June. She had been part of a photoshoot for the Non-No magazine and had pre-recorded a Japanese music show stage before her hiatus.

One fan pointed out, “We don't talk at daeryun [victim's law firm] threatening hybe w/ fanfic enough🐍🐍🐍if ppl actually read, here's what daeryun wants you to believe: garam was punished for cursing by the school violence commitee, BUT not for these "descriptions of heinous abuse" they might've produced out of thin air.” Another wondered, “Garam barely has any either, a document from the school that states there wasn't any records of bullying AND that a level 5 punishemnt is an add on So the proof is.. things in her favor?”
