Kendall Jenner says she had bride's permission after Internet slammed her for THAT dress
Kendall Jenner has responded to claims that she "upstaged" the bride at her best friend's wedding reception by wearing an extreme cutaway dress. The supermodel was a bridesmaid for Lauren Perez and while Jenner wore a traditional blue strapless gown for the ceremony, she wore a black dress from Monot's SS22 collection with big cuts across her body, showing her bare midriff for the reception. She published her Instagram stories, where she posed for mirror selfies with Hailey Bieber and friends.
Despite the fact that Kendall Jenner appeared to have worn the gown solely for the reception, many social media users were perplexed by her choice, with many criticizing her for taking the attention away from the bride and groom. ”Besides the ‘pick me’ mentality, it’s just blatantly disrespectful and she clearly didn’t get the wedding attire memo, huh?" someone questioned on social media.

According to one person, "If anyone showed up to my wedding in the dress that Kendall Jenner wore, I would personally hire security and have them escorted out. The audacity to do that to the bride and a groom." "@KendallJenner I’d rather you turn up to my wedding in a wedding dress than this,” another added. “I’m sorry but the dress Kendall Jenner wore to a wedding is not appropriate at all … [you] don’t show up to someone’s wedding pretty much naked … The attention is supposed to be on the bride and the groom,” yet another person added.
Kendall Jenner, however, has clarified that she had obtained Perez's permission to wear the outfit to the reception. She commented under Perez's post, "@laurenperez obvi asked for your approval in advance too. We love a beach wedding.” Perez also defended Jenner by commenting, "SHE LOOKED STUNNING AND I LOVED IT!"
Perez celebrated New Year's Eve with a carousel of Instagram photos, dubbing it the "greatest night of 2021." Jenner wore the outfit in a some of those images, which received some backlash. One commentator commented under the post, "Inappropriate outfit at wedding @kendalljenner I'm embarrassed for you. #cringe.” A fellow fan replied, “if the bride herself doesn't gaf why do you care? Relax".
