'Tragically CHILDISH': Meghan slammed for implying Kate Middleton is 'cold' as she isn't a 'hugger'
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Meghan Markle was excoriated on social media after she appeared to suggest that Prince William's wife Kate Middleton was "cold" at their first meeting. In the brand new Netflix documentary 'Harry & Meghan' – released on Thursday, December 8 – Meghan said she was "surprised" at how the royal family continued to remain "formal" in a private setting, before taking a thinly-veiled swipe at the Princess of Wales.
Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, said she was unaware of the formality that comes with royal life and greeted Prince William and Kate Middleton barefoot in ripped jeans. “I was a hugger and have always been a hugger. I didn’t realize that that was really jarring for a lot of Brits,” Meghan said of her first meeting with Middleton, as quoted by Page Six. “I guess I started to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside, carried through on the inside,” she added.

The former actress said she didn't expect royals to conduct themselves behind closed doors the same way they did in public. “There is a forward-facing way of being, and then you close the door and you are like, ‘Oh, great. We can relax now.’ But that formality carries over on both sides. And that was surprising to me,” Meghan continued. “It’s so funny when I look back now because now I know so much,” she remarked, adding, that she’s “so glad I didn’t then because I could just authentically be myself without so much preparedness.”
Fans of Prince William and Middleton, however, did not approve of Meghan's comments. "Meghan says that she didn’t realize William and Kate would be so formal behind doors when they first met…They literally just met you, hun, they’re not going to be besties with someone they don’t know. What else were they going to be like?" one tweeted. "Any sane person knows you don't hug someone you barely know, let alone on the first meeting! God, are these two for real? Meghan being 'a hugger' is not Earth-shattering!" another wrote.

Some claimed Meghan was "clearly" taking digs at Middleton. "...Meghan making a dig so clearly at Kate implying she’s cold for not being a hugger," one commented. "Really seem to be having a go at Kate. Meghan's jealousy of her is off the scale and quite honestly tragically childish," someone else added.
Yep Harry making a dig so clearly at William implying his marriage wasn’t for love and Meghan making a dig so clearly at Kate implying she’s cold for not being a hugger.

Another took offense at how the Sussexes were talking about Prince William and Middleton's lives "without their permission." They wrote, "Anyone finding it really uncomfortable how Harry and Meghan are just talking about William and Kate’s lives without their permission at all? It’s privacy when it suits them, not others."
