Release date
Kanye West’s ‘Donda’ will hit the Internet on Friday, July 23. The release date of the highly-anticipated album was revealed via Beats by Dre advertisement aired during Game 6 of NBA Finals on July 20. The video featured the country’s fastest athlete Sha’Carri Richardson as a song called ‘No Child Left Behind’ was played in the background.
How to live stream
‘Donda’ will be up for streaming on Apple Music and Spotify. Fans will also be able to enjoy the album on the rapper’s official YouTube channel.
Concept
The name of Kanye West’s much-awaited album ‘Donda’ is inspired by his mother Donda West who passed away at the age of 58 in 2007 following complications from her plastic surgery procedures. Though Kanye West has just confirmed the release date, we still eagerly wait for the official cover art. However, a leaked version has been doing the rounds of the Internet. An outline of a woman painted in all red made it to Twitter which was apparently designed by the late French-born artist Louise Bourgeois.
Furthermore, it is rumored that ‘Donda’ will be centered on God just like his previous one but it might be more in a commercial space. Complex reported that photographer Nigel D, who attended the listening event in Vegas, revealed that ‘Donda is still “centered on God,” but Kanye is also experimenting with secular sounds again, including “some slow [and] some trap, some songs could be played in a church, some in a club.” He observed, “The album is really about having faith in God and overcoming adversity. Kanye speaks on personal struggles and struggles others face. Positive messages that you can turn up to.” Nigel continued, “I thought the album would have no expletives. But there are some B’s and N’s.” Also, media personality and former basketball player Justin Laboy was present at the very private listening party along with Kevin Durant. Laboy had shared a few insights saying that Kanye West’s new record is light years ahead.
Features
It is believed that the ‘Ye’ hitmaker’s new record will feature some of the current top artists. People who made it to the secret listening party in Las Vegas shared their observations on Twitter revealing that ‘Donda’ might see guest verses from Pusha-T, Travis Scott, Post Malone, Westside Gunn, Playboi Carti, Baby Keem, Lil Baby, and a few others.
Album trailer
Kane West has not shared the album trailer yet but he did drop the Beats by Dre advertisement featuring Sha’Carri Richardson on his official YouTube channel. MEAWW will keep you posted.
Tracklist
Apart from the cover art, Kanye West is yet to shed details on the official tracklist of ‘Donda’. However, according to various multiple reports, songs like ‘Welcome to My Life’, ‘Remote, ‘Hurricane’ featuring Lil Baby, and ‘12,000 Acres’ featuring Pusha T might make it to the album. The song ‘No Child Left Behind’ is the only officially confirmed track, as of now.
