AB6IX's 'extended play 'Salute' is getting a repackaged version arriving next month

Following a busy 2020 for AB6IX, the South Korean boy group isn't stopping anytime soon and are beginning 2021 with another large project. In January 2021, AB6IX plan to drop a repackaged version of their November EP 'Salute'. Here's how to stream and what we know of the new record.

Release date

The 'Salute' reissue is scheduled for a release on January 18, 2021, according to an announcement by the K-pop group on Twitter.

Concept

Titled 'Salute: A New Hope', the upcoming project appears like its visual aesthetics will draw inspiration from cinema if we're going by a recent teaser. According to Business Mirror, the group expressed the original 'Salute' saw them going "back to basics" while presenting a fresher and more mature sound. The initial EP adopted a type of marching band theme and lyrically came as a love letter to fans. AB6IX member Donghyun explained, “Our previous projects were more sexy, it had more cool factors in it, so we wanted to make sure we show a contrasting concept with this one."

He continued, “We didn’t intend to show how we changed-it was more of going back to basics, and to show our fans our appreciation and who we really are, and that’s how the concept of the album came about." The singer added, “Rather than packaging it as something beautiful, as something pretty, I wanted it to be more expressive and as realistic as possible.”

Details about the new concept on the reissue haven't been disclosed, but perhaps newly added songs/remixes may extend the theme to a larger scale, giving a cinematic sense on top of the intimate lyrics to fans.

Along with the announcement, the group shared a teaser that features a classic cinema house designed with a color palette of blue, purple, orange, red and their variants. Check it out below.
