'Just Add Magic: Mystery City': Release date, plot, trailer and all you need to know about the fantasy show

After the success of the family fantasy show 'Just Add Magic', Amazon is coming out with a spin-off for the show. 'Just Add Magic: Mystery City' will focus on the new protectors introduced in 'Just Add Magic' Season 3, with new recipes and a brand new adventure that involves an ancient mystery.

'Just Add Magic: Mystery City' Season 1 will arrive on Amazon Prime Video on January 17.

Plot

'Just Add Magic: Mystery City' will follow the adventures of a new trio of protectors who discover the cookbook and embark on a city-wide scavenger hunt in search of a secret recipe. Here's the official plot synopsis for the show: "In a spinoff of the successful series, 'Just Add Magic', we follow the magic cookbook to Bay City as it moves to three new protectors: step-siblings Zoe and Leo, and their downstairs neighbor Ish. Each of the three brings a unique skill to the table, as the cookbook unlocks a centuries-old mystery that takes them on an historical adventure through the city streets in a race to find a secret recipe."

Hoang-Rappaport will appear on the show as Zoe, one of the new protectors. She is best known for her roles in 'Nana' and HBO's 'Watchmen'. Zoe's brother Leo, another one of the protectors, will be played by Tyler Sanders with Jenna Qureshi rounding out the trio as Ish, Zoe and Leo's neighbor. The rest of the cast includes Matt Delapina, Tess Paras and James Urbaniak among others.

Creators

The 'Just Add Magic' franchise was developed by Joanna Lewis and Kristine Songco. The original series was a loose adaptation of the book of the same name by Cindy Callaghan.

The trailer for 'Just Add Magic: Mystery City' introduces fans to the new protectors and their mission. Specifically, our new heroes are going to have to find three little coins that can lead them to discover an extremely powerful sourdough bread before the most popular kid in school, who is also the latest in a long line of evil protectors, can get his hands on it. Zoe, Leo, and Ish are absolutely adorable and we can't wait to see them embark on this new adventure.
