LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Julianne Kaye, Britney Spears' former makeup artist and friend, has spoken out about the 'Oops!... I Did It Again' singer's well-known public meltdown, which occurred in 2008, just after she left rehab. In a recent interview, Kaye discussed how the demands of fame affected the 'Toxic' singer.

She said, "She had her well-publicised breakdown and when I saw her on X Factor or whatever show she was doing, it was like the lights were on but nobody was home." The 'Toxic Pony' singer shaved her head and attacked paparazzi with an umbrella during her infamous breakdown. Kaye added, "I was like, 'That's not Britney', I thought, 'If somebody just had a complete mental breakdown, why are they going back to work?' She didn't look like herself ever again."

Britney Spears says she looks 'exactly' like Jessica Simpson, concerned fans wonder if she’s been ‘hacked’

Kaye, who began working as Spears' makeup artist when she was barely 23 years old, claims that the demands of fame altered the 'Gimme More' singer. She told The Mirror, "Britney was a huge star, but during the conservatorship, the light that shined so brightly was gone, you could see it in her eyes."

Spears, who is presently suing her estranged father Jamie Spears for conservator abuse, marked the one-year anniversary of the termination of her 13-year conservatorship in a recent Instagram post. Speaking on the controversial conservatorship, Kaye claimed that during the course of the previous 13 years, the "light" from Spears' eyes had faded. Kaye added that she still cares "very deeply" for the celebrity. Spears liked singing but suffered in the spotlight and just "wanted to be normal," according to Kaye, who was speaking about the pressures of fame on young stars.

Spears was placed in a conservatorship managed by her father, Jamie Spears, and an attorney, which controls her assets and business dealings, following her involuntary hospitalization for mental care in 2008. Spears and her father have asked the court to remove him from his role in the conservatorship.

Kaye continued by saying that while they were on tour, Spears would disguise herself with wigs so that she wouldn't be recognized, and the two of them would sneak out together. Her remarks come after Spears' sixth deactivation of her Instagram account

The deactivation of Spears' Instagram account comes after questions were raised when the 'Hold Me Closer' singer shared a very kind message about her estranged sister Jamie Lynn Spears on social media. Some individuals speculated that the sweet message was actually sent by someone on her estranged sister's team and Spears' Instagram had been "hacked." Spears hasn't yet spoken out about her Instagram deactivation, but her Twitter account is still active.
