A former madam named Jody “Babydol” Gibson died on Sunday, January 2. Jody, who went by the pseudonym of Sasha of the Valley, was known for running Hollywood’s largest call girl services in the 80’s and the 90’s. Jody was found dead at her home in Yucca Valley, California. She was 64. Law enforcement sources spoke to TMZ revealing that they got a call from a family member on Sunday.

Jody Gibson’s husband Eric Markel had confirmed her death and told the publication that her passing away was a bit of mystery. Markel shared that the former boss of elite prostitute rings was not battling an illness but had suffered a dramatic weight loss in the last few months. Markel added that she dropped down to 87 pounds. Speaking of recent deaths, the fans mourned the passing away of Hollywood legend Betty White. She died at the age of 99 just a few days short of her 100th birthday. Iconic comedian Mort Sahl, rapper Lil Meri, acclaimed hip-hop producer Traxamillion, and ‘Comic Book Men’ star Robert Bruce were other public figures that left for heavenly abode.

How did Jody Babydol die?

The cops reached Jody “Babydol” Gibson's home at 11 am on Sunday where she was pronounced dead on the scene. The cops revealed that Jody died in her sleep and no foul play was suspected, as reported by TMZ. Jody was an aspiring singer in her young days but she ran an escort agency for the rich and famous in Los Angeles. She made headlines when she was convicted in the year 2000 of felony pimping after her international prostitution ring apparently called ‘California Dreamin’ was busted in 1999.

According to the New York Post, Jody charged a whopping $3000 for an evening for her services of Playboy models and porn star actresses. Her clientele apparently included public figures like Bruce Willis, baseball manager Tommy Lasorda, Sex Pistols member Steve Jones, film producer Don Simpson and former Texas Lt. Gov Ben Barnes- the names of which were revealed in a book called ‘Secrets of a Hollywood Super Madam’. The tell-all book was penned by Jody in the year 2007. Willis, Barnes, and Lasorda had later denied any association with Gibson’s business. Jody was jailed for three years but was released in 2002 after serving two years. She later published books like ‘Convicted: A True Story’ and ‘Seduced: Diary of a Double Dealing Spy’.

‘Will so miss her bright spirit’, says Twitter

A few social media users took to Twitter to speak about Jody’s death. “She led a long and productive life” said one user as one close friend of hers tweeted, “Will so miss her bright spirit... sending love to family & friends tonight. I'm going to do a memorial show this week featuring clips of Babydol on Up All Night and other appearances we did together.”  Another user claimed, “Ive never heard of her - cant wait to see the documentary and movie.” Whereas, one mocked her name saying, “Babydol????  Was she missing a leg?”
