Jesy Nelson slammed for blackfishing AGAIN over jacket: 'She's doing it on purpose’

Jesy was also called out for blackfishing after she released her debut solo single titled ‘Boyz' featuring Nicki Minaj in the first week of October

For the last few months, Jesy Nelson has been brutally slammed for blackfishing and probably not getting affected by the flak, the former Little Mix member again sparked outrage on Twitter after she attended an event wearing a leather jacket that displayed the word ‘Black’, which could have been part of a bigger word, but given her past, the Internet did not take kindly to this. The British crooner reignited the debate as social media users did not hesitate at all to drag her on the Internet.
 
The 30-year-old singer was first accused of blackfishing in May 2021 after a detailed article on Buzzfeed shared, “Dear Little Mix Fans, We Need To Hold Jesy Nelson Accountable” which ultimately led to chaos on Twitter.  Jesy, who quit her group Little Mix in December 2020 to pursue a solo career, was again called out for blackfishing after she released her debut solo single titled ‘Boyz' featuring Nicki Minaj in the first week of October.

Jesy Nelson faces heat for wearing racy ensemble

Jesy attended the Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball on Saturday, December 11 at London's O2 Arena. The songstress donned an orange fur jacket that she teamed up with flashy brown leather pants. Jesy upped the glamor with her smokey eyes and neutral lip color. However, the word “Black” written on the jacket irked the Internet as many called her out again saying that she did this on purpose. The singer, however, refrained from addressing the chaos that ensued over the weekend.
 
Jesy had earlier addressed the issue in an interview with Vulture saying that she loved Black culture and Black music. The Power’ hitmaker had earlier asserted, “I'm very aware that I'm a White British woman; I've never said that I wasn't.” She continued, “But I mean, like, I love Black culture. I love Black music. That's all I know; it's what I grew up on.” When asked about why some Instagram followers were blocked after their accusation, Jesy said that it must have been done by a member of her team. “I would never intentionally do anything to make myself look racially ambiguous, so that’s why I was initially shocked that the term [blackfishing] was directed at me.”

Speaking on the latest controversy, one furious user posted, “I wish for Jesy Nelson to go into a time machine and turn into a real black woman so she can experience slavery. Yeah bi**h. You wanna be black. BE BLACK. Its a cute skin tone. But thats f**ked up to do. Black people deserve better. And seeing this s**t is wrong.” Another shared, “Wearing this jacket and covering part of the wording so it just says 'Black' proves that at this point Jesy Nelson and her entire team are just trolling and mocking Black women now. And it reeks of ignorance, arrogance, desperation, and misogynoir.”
 
One user tweeted, “Not jesy nelson wearing a jacket that says black… shes doing this s**t on purpose.” Another, on similar lines, mentioned, “This is an insensitive, calculated move. She knows what she’s doing and her team continues to enable her.”  One person stated, “Why did i just see pictures of jesy nelson wearing a jacket that says ‘black’ on it like god at this point she just wants to stir the pot.” Meanwhile, one individual said, “I've reached a point in time where I am not sorry for the bullying Jesy Nelson faces. Because this woman looks like she takes black folks for idiots.” And, another concluded, “Jesy Nelson really does an appearance wearing a jacket that says Black while she’s in a blackfishing scandal? And she is dark as hell too? Girl bye.”
