LOS ANGLES, CALIFORNIA: Mayim Bialik read out a clue in the June 13 episode of 'Jeopardy!' that the fans had an answer to but not the contestants. The clue read by Bialik had a religious connotation as it was about The Lord’s Prayer, a Christian prayer that Jesus Christ taught his disciples, as per The Bible. However, the contestants of ‘Jeopardy!’ were clueless about this clue, pun intended, leaving a trail of angry fans who took to social media to express their thoughts.

‘Jeopardy!’ clue that had everyone clueless

Suresh Krishnan, Joe Seibert, and Laura Blyer Scanland were the three contestants in the ‘Jeopardy!’ lineup when Bialik asked the clue about The Lord’s Prayer. Bialik read the clue, “Matthew 6:9 says, Our Father, which art in heaven, [THIS] be thy name.” When the camera panned to the three contestants, who are usually quick to reach the buzzer, all of them looked blank. It didn’t take long for fans to take offense over this, considering how common this prayer is.

‘Unbelievable’

‘Jeopardy!’ fans slammed the contestants with one saying, “How sad is it that none of the contestants on Jeopardy last night knew the next word of The Lord’s Prayer that follows, “Our Father, who art in heaven ______ be thy name?” Unbelievable.” Another wrote, “@Jeopardy How can all 3 adults who made it to be contestants on the show not know at least the start of the lord's prayer (hallowed) or Elizabeth Taylor was in National Velvet?” One fan pointed out, “The state of our society, as summarized by this clip from a recent episode of Jeopardy.”

One tweet read, “I can’t believe ppl on Jeopardy didn’t know “Hallowed” be they name of the Lord’s Prayer .how could they have never heard that?” A user posted, “Of all the useless trivia that Jeopardy contestants memorize... they never took time to memorize The Lord's Prayer?” Another tweeted, “Today, 3 Jeopardy contestants did not know the first line of the 'Lord's Prayer!' Sad. Our Father, who art in heaven, ________ be thy name; They didn't know the answer: 'Hallowed.' Pathetic,' one person wrote. 'That’s “hallowed,” you heathens! #Jeopardy.” Well, if you haven’t figured it out already, the answer was ‘hallowed.’
