'Jeopardy!' host Mayim Bialik stunned as 5-day champ Suresh Krishnan 'sneaks up' on rival in intense showdown
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Jeopardy!’ host Mayim Bialik, popularly known for her ‘robotic talking’ was astonished by contestant Suresh Krishnan after he sneaks up on his rival. Recently, the four-day champ Krishnan was about to get dethroned from becoming the five-day reigning champ until he ‘snuck up’ for a wild fifth win.
On Monday, June 12 ‘Jeopardy!’ broadcast, host Bialik was left surprised after the understated champ Krishnan, who almost got booted out by competitor Michael Vallaley. Krishnan faced Marilyn Singer, a children’s book author from Brooklyn, New York, and Vallaley, a data analyst from Somerville, Massachusetts. During the Double Jeopardy round, Michael who emotionally revealed he plays ‘Jeopardy!’ with a cancer support group went all-in and nearly toppled the four-day winning streak of Suresh.
‘Close game’
During the recent episode, ‘Jeopardy!’ fans were convinced that the reigning champion’s defeat was imminent but he managed to turn the tables in the final moments. Krishnan who earned his four-day winning streak showcased his strategic prowess early in the game by making a rare minimum $5 wager on the Daily Double, although his prediction turned out to be incorrect. Bialik astoundingly admitted, “Close game." while going in for the second round as both the players were at $5000 whereas Marilyn was sadly at $0.
Surprisingly, at the Double Jeopardy round, Krishnan captured the second Daily Double for $2000 and Michael cashed in on the remaining hidden clues. The long-haired contestant emotionally shared insight on a personal topic revealing that he plays ‘Jeopardy!’ with a cancer support group. He added as the crowd cheered him up, “You know I had three failed cancer treatments and I didn’t think I was going to be here so I‘m just going to bet it all." The clue displayed on the screen reads: “In 1814 U.S. Forces under Gen. Jacob Brown invaded Canada by crossing this river between Lake Eerie and Lake Ontario." Michael got it correct with “Niagara," pumping his cash flow to $16,800 while Suresh totaled $10,195.
Suresh Krishnan’s closed-up fifth-winning streak
Vallaley, who went straight into the Final Jeopardy wound up with a tremendous lead of $26,400. While Suresh had $14,195 and Marilyn $4,400, it was a convincing win for Michael to lock away the game. The Final Jeopardy under ‘Women In Mythology’ read, “The name of this woman, the product of an incestuous union, means “against birth." Suresh seemed clueless and stared at the trivia question for a while. Apparently, he was the only one with the correct answer “Antigone." His answer’s last letter seemed “I” shaped, but it doesn’t change the answer or render it incorrect according to the ‘Jeopardy!’ rules.
He left fans in shock after revealing he bet a massive $14,000, giving him $28,195. Due to Michael’s slightest mistake by writing ‘Uncle Steve’ and wagering $2000, Suresh ended up winning his fifth streak on the final clue alone. Bialik grinned with surprise, “You have done it again!”
