Jay-Z rarely shares his opinion on social media but when he does, the world listens and the same happened when the hip-hop legend decided to set the record straight on Tuesday, December 21 saying that no one can face him in a Verzuz battle. ‘The Blueprint’ hitmaker logged into Twitter Spaces with Alicia Keys and Rob Markman and claimed that no one can stand on the stage with him- “no chance in hell.”

Verzuz battles have been one of the hottest discussions in the world of hip-hop ever since the global lockdown took place in March 2020. While many rappers in the past have expressed their desire to lock horns with Hov in a Verzuz battle, it now looks like that would be a distant dream of many. Social media users, however, rushed to Twitter as soon as the rap veteran claimed the throne. Many claimed that Kanye West would easily wipe him off. A few also named Lil Wayne as they all enjoy an extensive discography.

Will Jay-Z ever go for a Verzuz face-off?

Whilst interacting with his former collaborator Alicia Keys, Jay-Z in an audio clip could be heard saying there was no chance in hell that anyone could match up to his potential for a Verzuz showdown. “No disrespect, but no one can stand on that stage with me. It’s not a chance in hell that anyone can stand on that stage with me”, said the 52-year-old rap megastar. When Markman asked if he ever would go against someone in the live battle show, Jay added, “You got to stand in front of the ‘Grammy Family Freestyle’ live? No one has ever even seen me perform that, you got to stand in front of that? That ain’t never going to happen.”

While the Internet proudly named Kanye West as an ideal contender for going against Jay-Z, the former in his recent ‘Drink Champs’ interview said that he would never go against Hov as he was his boss, as reported by Revolt. While paying his respect to Jay, Kanye said, “Oh, I didn’t think about that one. … Nah, cause that’s my boss, I would never go against Jay.” Kanye had recently collaborated with Jay-Z for his 10th album ‘Donda’.

‘Kanye is clearing Hov a** in a Verzuz’, claims Twitter

The Internet did not think twice to name Kanye West as the most suitable opponent against Jay-Z for a Verzuz battle. “If Hov battles anyone in a verzuz it has to be Kanye cause T.I. or Wayne would put him in the loudest pack” said one user as another chimed-in, “Kanye is clearing Hov a** in a Verzuz.” Echoing similar sentiments, one user posted, “The only person I can see going up against Hov in a VERZUZ is Kanye.” The next one shared, “Kanye would smoke HOV in a Verzuz no cappuccino.”

One user posted, “I f**ks with Hov but Kanye and Wayne can definitely give him some smoke in a Verzuz battle. Wayne and Kanye are the only 2 rappers that stand a chance against Hov in a Verzuz”, as another mentioned, “No other rapper can go toe to toe with Hov in a verzuz… if y’all wanna call Kanye a rapper than that’s y’all.” The next one mocked Jay saying, “Lol love the confidence Hov but I’m positive Kanye West can beat him in a Verzuz.” While another tweeted, “Kanye and Wayne would both WASH Hov in a Verzuz. And Jay is my favorite rapper and I’m saying this.” Another user concluded, “I think Kanye West could beat Jay Z in a Verzuz, I'm almost sure Kanye West catalog runs just as deep with just as many if not slightly more bangers.”
