Louisiana rapper JayDaYoungan's dad claims son shot dead by 5 gunmen over jealousy

JayDaYoungan's dad believes his son didn't have beef with anyone and nor was his death gang-related

Update: Slain rapper JayDaYoungan's dad, Kenyatta Scott, who required medical attention after the shooting, believes his son's murder was the result of jealousy and he thinks whoever was behind the shooting was envious of JDY's success. Speaking to TMZ the rapper's dad believes his son didn't have beef with anyone and nor was his death gang-related. JayDaYoungan's dad says people should remember the rapper as a "good, humble and respectful kid." 

Scott revealed that JayDaYoungan had been sitting in his yard when a black truck pulled up and three people hopped out with guns. They were later joined by two others who ambushed him from the other side of the property and then started shooting. He does not think JDY knew the gunmen. Scott says he also shot back to protect his son and himself but he was shot twice in the arm. The rapper was taken to the hospital but he had lost a lot of blood by then and despite undergoing surgery, he could not be saved.

BOGALUSA, LOUISIANA: A 24-year-old rapper was shot dead outside a home in Bogalusa. The rapper's family member was injured in a separate shooting. The police officials are investigating to find a connection between the two incidents. The rapper succumbed to his injuries soon after. As per the police, the relative is now in stable condition. A family member of the rapper had first rubbished the rumors of his death but soon changed their statement after the death was confirmed, according to Bogalusa Police. 

Rapper JayDaYoungan, whose real name is Javorius Tykies Scott, was fatally shot . While the officials transported the critically injured singer to the hospital and managed a more than chaotic scene, another shooting took place on Marshall Richardson Road. It is said that the first shooting occurred just before 6 pm outside of a home on Superior Avenue, where the 24-year-old rapper is said to be shot. The cops revealed that JayDaYoungan's relative, Kenyatta Scott Sr, was admitted to the hospital and was in a stable condition. The investigation is underway and no one has been linked to the shootings yet.

The Bogalusa Police Department shared a statement on their Facebook account saying, "This is an update to the press release of a shooting earlier tonight. We can now identify the victims as Javorius Scott, aka JayDaYoungan and close family member Kenyatta Scott Sr. We can also confirm that Javorius Scott has died as a result of his injuries. Kenyatta Scott Sr has been transported to another facility and we have been told he is in stable condition. Detectives are currently conducting interviews and working with leads. Further information will follow as it becomes available." 

Who was Javorius Scott?

Javorius Scott, better known as JayDaYoungan, was a 24-year-old rapper who quickly rose to prominence with his catchy music, amassing millions of streams on his songs. The rapper was best known for his singles '23 Island,' 'Elimination' and 'Opps,' which have received 49, 27, and 26 million streams, on SoundCloud as of November 2020. His debut album, titled 'Misunderstood' (2019) peaked at number 43 on the Billboard 200, exposing him to a larger audience. 

American rapper $Not took to his Twitter to mourn the death of JayDaYoungan and posted, "Damn not JayDaYoungan bro."

One fan posted, "Damn @JayDaYoungan just saw you bout 2 weeks ago and you was humble as ever bro this life shit crazy. Rest easy bruh."

Another user said, "rip Jaydayoungan I ain't even smile today, I almost cried today Couldn't even roll up and get high today, couldn't even get high today."

World Star HipHop rose to the tragedy and tweeted: "According to reports, Bogalusa Police Department confirmed rapper #JayDaYoungan has passed away after being shot in his hometown. Our thoughts and prayers are with our friends and family. #RIPJayDaYoungan"

Another user wrote, "Rip JayDaYoungan Praying For His Family & Loved Ones So Many Rappers Losing Their Lives Too Soon" One more user said, "We lost Dolph and Drakeo recently and now we just lost JayDaYoungan. YSL jus got hit with the Rico with two more Atlanta gangs pending. The rap industry is getting dismantled right infront of our eyes ."
