SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Earlier on January 17, moments before he died, Jay Briscoe tweeted an image of him and his brother Mark goofing around. In the picture, he is seen wearing a "new hat" that featured a "13X" patch in what appeared to be a nod to the tag team's 13 championships and to mark the brothers’ historic 13th reign as 'Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions'. Next to him, his brother Mark seems to be munching on cookies.

'Ring of Honor' and 'All Elite Wrestling' promotions owner Tony Khan confirmed the death of Briscoe on January 17 on Twitter. According to wrestling observer Dave Meltzer, Briscoe reportedly died in a car accident in Laurel, Delaware, around 5.30 pm on January 17.

We'll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin."

'What a sad loss,' Internet mourns Jay Briscoe's death

Internet was quick to shower him and his family with prayers and love and expressed their grief over his death. One user on Twitter said, "The Briscoes were one of the greatest throwback tag teams of this era. They would have been stars in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and so on. What a sad loss." Another user posted a video and said, "Was lucky enough to watch the Briscoes vs @TheLethalJay and @tanahashi1_100 at Supercard in New Orleans in 2018. Such a shame he never got a bigger run but amazing talent and great career."  Another fan said, "Really heart breaking news they were 1 of my favourite tag teams of all time I can’t believe it." One fan remembered the time when they last got to see Briscoe in one of the games and said, "I’m really thankful we were able to see him in Dallas. You never expect someone so young to pass." Another fan remembers seeing him in one of his important matches and said, "Omg I literally saw them when they went against the sat back in march of last year when the Hardy’s made thier tag team return to wrestling ugh may he RIP."
