LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Less than a year after publicly humiliating his ex-fiancée Olivia Wilde by allegedly having his attorneys serve her custody papers while on stage in front of the who’s who of the entertainment industry, Jason Sudeikis is facing criticism for preaching about mental health.

In a meeting with President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, Sudeikis, 47, and other cast members of the Apple TV+ show ‘Ted Lasso’ discussed how mental health affects general wellbeing. The actor, who plays the eponymous American coach of a British soccer team, urged people to make it a point to regularly check in with friends, family, and coworkers to "ask how they're doing, and listen, sincerely."

Sudeikis said, "No matter who you are, no matter where you live, no matter who you voted for, we all probably, I assume, we all know someone who has, or have been that someone ourselves actually, that´s struggled, that´s felt isolated, that's felt anxious, that has felt alone." He further added, "It's actually one of the many things, believe it or not, that we all have in common as human beings." Sudeikis then said, "That means it's something that we can all, you know, and should, talk about with one another when we´re feeling that way or when we recognize that in someone feeling that way." President Biden posted a snap of the team visiting the White House with the caption, "Had a wide-ranging discussion about the importance of mental health with some folks from an English soccer team. You’ll see video of it soon."

However, his comments created havoc on the internet, as they seemed to be in direct opposition to the actions of his own legal team, which served Wilde with papers in April 2022 while the latter was giving a live presentation at CinemaCon 2022.

What happened during CinemaCon 2022?

When the 38-year-old ‘House’ actress, Olivia Wilde got the infamous legal papers, she was in the midst of a speech about the thriller ‘Don't Worry Darling’ in which her partner Harry Styles is also starring. ‘The Lazarus Effect’ star was reportedly presenting in front of 4,100 members of the film industry. During that time, an orange envelope was handed to her, which had ‘Personal and Confidential’ written on it.

After much confusion, it was revealed that the ‘confidential’ documents were related to the custody of Sudeikis and Wilde’s two children, Otis and Daisy. Wilde and Sudeikis dated from 2011 to 2020 and have two children together.

In a document obtained by Daily Mail, Wilde was found to be stating that, ”Jason's actions were clearly intended to threaten me and catch me off guard. He could have served me discreetly, but instead he chose to serve me in the most aggressive manner possible.”

“The fact that Jason would embarrass me professionally and put our personal conflict on public display in this manner is extremely contrary to our children's best interests,” further added the ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ star. "Since Jason has made it clear that we will not be able to work this out for our children's sake outside of the court system, I filed a petition for custody in Los Angeles," Wilde explained at that time.

On his part, Sudeikis said he did not have any idea that the papers would be delivered to Wilde on the stage of CinemaCon saying, “I understand that the process server had only done her job; however, I deeply regret what happened,” Sudeikis says in the filings. “Olivia's talk was an important event for Olivia, both professionally and personally, and I am very, very sorry that the incident marred her special moment.” He wanted those papers to be handed to Wilde at Heathrow Airport as he didn’t want his children to be disturbed by those papers as they were presumably residing with her at Harry Styles’s residence in London, reported BuzzFeed. He said, “I did not want service to take place at the home of Olivia's current partner because Otis and Daisy might be present.”

An insider source said, “Papers were drawn up to establish jurisdiction relating to the children of Ms. Wilde and Mr. Sudeikis,” reported Variety. They further added, “Mr. Sudeikis had no prior knowledge of the time or place that the envelope would have been delivered as this would solely be up to the process service company involved and he would never condone her being served in such an inappropriate manner.”

'Who cares what an actor thinks?'

"Didn't he have his wife served custody papers in front of a live audience to embarrass her?" questioned one user. "Really from a guy whose divorce, etc. played out in front of all of us. He was very much involved in that crap we had to endure. Give us a break," remarks one user. Another user said, "Who cares what he thinks? He's an actor Act".
