Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde sued by ex-nanny who was forced to 'pick sides' after couple's breakup
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde's former nanny has filed a lawsuit against them. Ericka Genaro, who was employed by the couple between 2018 and 2021, alleges in court documents that she extended her parental responsibilities to their children Otis, 8, and Daisy, 6, after Wilde left the household in November 2020. She claims that Olivia left the family for the most part around 2020, around the time she allegedly began dating Harry Styles, and that Genaro was therefore under a lot of pressure to intervene on many different fronts.
Genaro claims that she not only served as the primary nanny for Olivia and Jason's two children, but also began acting as Jason's confidante, sitting down with him after hours to listen and discuss the sensitive situation. Genaro claims that she lent Jason a sympathetic ear, but she also claims that this led to a tremendous amount of stress and worry, which she believes led to incapacitation. In addition, she claims that her work duties also became much more demanding and she allegedly had to work around the clock, TMZ reports.

Genaro was fired 'unlawfully'
When Genaro confronted Olivia during the filming of 'Don't Worry Darling,' she claims that Olivia was empathetic and understanding. Genaro claims that Olivia's absence from the family forced her to take on the maternal duties that Olivia would normally take on.
Genaro claims that she suddenly changed her mind after Jason asked her about the alleged conversation with Olivia. She claims this raised tensions in the house because Genaro felt she had to choose sides. Genaro claims that the anxiety she was suffering from became unbearable and she was advised by medical specialists to stop working. In other words, she was prescribed a three-day leave from her job. "Employees are most vulnerable when they need time off to care for themselves," Genaro's attorney Ron Zambrano said in a statement. "Laws are in place for just that reason, to afford them peace of mind to take that time without fear of losing their job." But when she told Jason, Genaro says he disagreed and promptly fired her. Genaro claims she was unlawfully fired and that Jason and Olivia violated a number of California labor regulations. She is now suing for substantial damages under the FEHA.
The couple previously made a joint statement
The pair previously came out, saying the former employee began a "campaign of harassing us" after the unnamed nanny revealed the details of the couple's reportedly rocky relationship in a Daily Mail interview. "As parents, it is incredibly upsetting to learn that a former nanny of our two young children would choose to make such false and scurrilous accusations about us publicly," the duo spoke with E! News in a joint statement on October 17, 2022. "We will continue to focus on raising and protecting our children with the sincere hope that she will now choose to leave our family alone."
In addition to penalties, Genaro is demanding deferred compensation, other employment benefits, and lost wages.
