LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jamie Lee Curtis recently discussed how, throughout her career, people have constantly reminded her that she was the daughter of two well-known movie actors, Tony and Janet Leigh. After the recent controversial nepotism-themed cover of New York Magazine, which featured Dakota Johnson, Maya Hawke, Zoe Kravitz, and others, 'Freaky Friday' star, 64, reflected on being the child of famous parents.

The issue was discussed by Curtis on Friday, December 23, when she made light of the term "nepo baby" on Instagram. "I have been a professional actress since I was 19 years old so that makes me an OG Nepo Baby," she wrote. "I've never understood, nor will I, what qualities got me hired that day, but since my first two lines on Quincy as a contract player at Universal Studios to this last spectacular creative year some 44 years later, there's not a day in my professional life that goes by without my being reminded that I am the daughter of movie stars," she added.

Curtis continued, "The current conversation about nepo babies is just designed to try to diminish and denigrate and hurt. For the record I have navigated 44 years with the advantages my associated and reflected fame brought me, I don't pretend there aren't any, that try to tell me that I have no value on my own."

Curtis remarked that it was "curious" how people "immediately make assumptions and snide remarks" about "someone else who is famous in their field for their art, would somehow have no talent whatsoever." She even spoke about her upbringing by famous parents Tony and Leigh.

Curtis described her hard work over the years, which has prompted her to act with "integrity and professionalism" on every shoot, insisting that the stereotype surrounding famous offspring "is simply not true. "I am not alone. There are many of us. Dedicated to our craft. Proud of our lineage. Strong in our belief in our right to exist," she wrote.

The Golden Globe winner wrapped up her statement by quoting her friend Rob Reynolds, who advised her to just "be kind." Curtis made a name for herself with her career-launching performance in the 1978 movie 'Halloween', a character she has since returned to multiple times.

The 'Knives Out' star went on to play a number of horror movies in the '80s before greatly expanding her career in the '90s and early 2000s with movies including 'True Lies', 'A Fish Called Wanda', and 'My Girl'. She most recently appeared in the 2019 mystery film 'Halloween Kills' and TV show 'Scream Queens', all directed by Ryan Murphy.
