It WASN'T a blind date: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle slammed for lying about how they first met
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Harry & Meghan' has been taking the world by storm. Featuring never-before-seen videos and images of the royal couple, the eight-episode Netflix series captures the Duke and Duchess of Sussex talking about their love story, reflecting on how they met, who proposed to whom, etc. In one segment of the series, the royal couple revealed their previous claims that they met on a blind date weren't entirely true.
In a joint interview following their engagement in 2018, Meghan and Harry admitted to being set up on a blind date by a mutual friend. "We were introduced, actually, by a mutual friend - we'll protect her privacy - but it was literally through her and we met once and then twice, back to back,” Harry said, according to the Mirror. When asked whether it was a set-up, the couple said, "Yes, it was definitely a set-up - it was a blind date."

But in the new series, the couple debunked their own claims and revealed they first met on Instagram after Harry spotted a picture of his future wife on a pal's feed. In the snap, Meghan had a dog face filter in exchange with her pal, but Harry was still smitten and asked who she was. "Meghan and I met over Instagram. I was scrolling through my feed and someone who was a friend had this video of the two of them, like a Snapchat," Harry said in the first episode of the docuseries.
Harry then texted their mutual friend to know more about Meghan and asked to introduce him to her. The friend immediately informed Markle that "Prince Haz" wanted to meet her, and Markle—who previously said she had never done any research on her now-husband whatsoever—did the same, noting, "I asked if I could see his feed." She claimed instead of reading articles about him, she just stalked his Instagram feed. "But that's your homework. You're like "Hmm let me see what they're about in their feed, not what someone else says about them but what they are putting out about themselves. That to me was the best barometer," she explained. The couple then exchanged numbers and swiftly moved to facetime before enjoying their first date at 76 Dean Street in Soho.
However, the contradictory claims didn’t fit very well with the internet. “Meghan's definition of blind date is scrolling through their Insta first... So not too 'blind' then. They met on Insta, now their whole life is an Insta Story, every second photographed and filmed and curated,” one user said. Another wrote, “I’m confused af. I thought Harry and Meghan met on a blind date? Now they met and started chatting after he saw a picture on Instagram? Which is it?”

I’m confused af. I thought Harry and Meghan met on a blind date? Now they met and started chatting after he saw a picture on Instagram? Which is it?

It wasn’t a blind date,Meghan “I have never looked up my husband online” Markle asked Harry’s friend Violet to set her up on date with Harry, then she googled Harry prior 2 the date & she had the audacity 2 lie and say she’s never googled Harry, not an inspiring love story is it?🤡

And claims made in Finding Freedom that “both participants in this blind date did so with a thorough Google search” are false?”
