Damar Hamlin under fire for his Super Bowl LVII jacket, fans call it 'mockery of crucifixion of Jesus'
GLENDALE, ARIZONA: Damar Hamlin was spotted again at the Super Bowl. The Buffalo Bills safety made his third Super Bowl week appearance in Phoenix, this time on the field at State Farm Stadium before Sunday's Kansas City Chiefs game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The outfit he chose for his appearance, however, did not go over well with his fans. Fans chastised him on social media for his ignorance.
Damar suffered a cardiac arrest and had to be revived on the field in Cincinnati a little more than a month ago. His presence at Sunday's Super Bowl game was another milestone in his miraculous recovery.

'I'd like to just thank God for even being here'
Damar Hamlin is on the field before Super Bowl 2023 for a heartfelt moment with the first responders and medical staff who saved his life after a cardiac arrest last month. In a special ceremony just before kickoff, the NFL recognized the medical personnel from the Cincinnati Bengals and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. "These heroes work every day to keep their community safe, and also led Damar Hamlin's medical team during his recovery," an announcer said.
The Buffalo Bills safety then joined them on the field and exchanged hugs and handshakes with all members of the team present. The tribute follows a similar outpouring of support for Hamlin and Cincinnatti's medical teams during this year's NFL Honors. Sheryl Lee Ralph, star of 'Abbott Elementary,' introduced them on stage, followed by Hamlin, who received a standing ovation from NFL players and celebrities in the audience. Damar then took the microphone to express his appreciation. "First, I would like to just thank God for even being here," he started. He concluded by adding, "But God's plan was to have a purpose greater than any game in this world." He then praised the first responders who had joined him on stage before including them all in a group hug.
What certainly does not seem to be God's plan, however, was the ghastly crucified Jesus in flannel lettering on the back of his coat and a gaudy depiction of his face on the front. On both sides are the words 'Eternal' and 'Without end and without beginning, there is no day and no night.'
'A mockery of Jesus Christ by Damar Hamlin'
Fans slammed him for the choice of clothes saying, "Nothing says thankfulness and inclusivity like mocking the most holy event and most holy figure in the world! Wow #DamarHamlin showing your real satanist colors huh? You and @samsmith should perform together at the next satanic Grammys/Super bowl ritual." Fans saw it as a heinous breach of the second commandment, as well as a bizarre mocking of Christ's death, or, at the absolute least, a cruel and disrespectful jab at the King of Glory, "A mockery of Jesus Christ by Damar Hamlin at the #SuperBowl . The symbolism is everywhere tonight." Questioning the purpose behind the jacket, a fan asked, "mocking God at the Super Bowl. Wow. Doesn’t get much more disgusting than this nasty jacket. What the hell is this supposed to be?" Calling out the irony, a fan wrote, "Definitely an interesting choice of attire for Damar Hamlin a guy who basically died on the football field and has been preaching about prayers, god and etc ever since. Hmmm."
