'Hope he pulls through': Prayers pour in for Damar Hamlin as Bengals and Bills fans hold vigil at hospital

CINCINNATI, OHIO: Buffalo Bills' Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field during a heated game between the Bills and Cincinnati Bengals on Monday, January 2. Prayers are now being offered for the NFL star, who remains in critical condition.

According to ESPN, the game between the two teams was suspended after Hamlin collapsed on the field. Although CPR was performed several times, they did not produce any results. Hamlin was taken off the field 16 minutes after he collapsed and was later transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The injury occurred after Hamlin tackled Tee Higgins and then stood up. However, he passed out in the next few seconds.

However, a video of both Bills and Bengals fans holding vigil for Hamlin is now viral on social media. The tweet said, "Bengals and Bills fans gathered to pray outside the hospital where Damar Hamlin is receiving care."



 

Meanwhile, NFL claimed in an official statement, "Hamlin received immediate medical attention on the field by team and independent medical staff and local paramedics. He was then transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition." Further it added, "Our thoughts are with Damar and the Buffalo Bills. We will provide more information as it becomes available. The NFL has been in constant communication with the NFL Players Association which is in agreement with postponing the game." Meanwhile, Ira Turner, Hamlin's agent said: "Please continue to pray for Damar and his family. We currently have no update at this time. Will ask that you keep the family in your prayers."

Prayers are pouring in across social media for the NFL player as both the fans unite to pray for Hamlin's come back. A user said, "Hope Damar Hamlin pulls through, be kind to the people around you!." Another added, "Sports always bringing people together. Praying for you Damar." A comment read, "Humanity does exist and it is beautiful to see." "Bengals and bills fans are a class act great to see people unite and come together in a time where the game doesn’t matter prayers for damar Hamlin and his family," added another.

"The power of sports unites us. Big ups to bills and bengals fans tonight," said another user. "This is amazing. I’m glad everyone is thinking of the bigger picture," wrote another. A tweet read, "I Absolutely love the Unity here from everyone... We can all put our differences as side and focus on this Amazing gentleman... My thoughts and prayers..." A comment stated, "this is more than football right here. this is respect and care for other players. beautiful moment."
