Back in 2018, when a struggling actor took up the most random of jobs that required him dressing in a popular children's toy costume and attend birthday parties, Hulu and Blumhouse's anthology horror brainchild 'Into the Dark' gave us the nightmarish story spun around Christmas, called 'Pooka'.

In 2020, however, the monthly series spinning tales of horror around a big holiday takes on April Fool's day to bring back the kids' toy with an insidious mind of its own, titled 'Pooka Lives!' The sequel involves a bunch of college kids who deem themselves invisible, against the backdrop of viral Creepypasta horror. Here is all you need to know about the series.

Release day

'Into the Dark: Pooka Lives!' premieres on April 3, only on Hulu.

Plot

According to Hulu's official synopsis for the feature-length installment, "A group of thirty-something friends from high-school create their own Creepypasta about Pooka for laughs but are shocked when it becomes so viral on the Internet that it actually manifests more murderous versions of the creature."

Pooka is, of course, the children's toy that we see the struggling actor adorn and soon he starts getting involved in mysterious murders and accidents across town, with no recollection or consciousness about having committed them himself. Almost, as if, he has two distinctly separate personalities. The mystery lies in figuring out whether the costume has a mind of its own or is there a demonic entity roaming the vicinity that takes up this avatar.

Creator

The original parent film was directed by Nacho Vigalondo, and this time, Alejandro Brugués is helming the project from a script written by Ryan Copple. The series is a Blumhouse production — the same company that gifted us popular horror franchises like 'The Purge' and 'Paranormal Activity'.
