LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After Patriots owner Robert Kraft's Foundation to Combat Antisemitism launched a dramatic ad during Super Bowl 2024 starring Dr Martin Luther King Jr adviser Dr Clarence B Jones, fans watched the group reveal another piece during the Oscars' coverage this weekend.

The internet blasts the Academy for its current advertisement, with many doubting the purpose behind it.

The latest advertisement, dubbed "Neighbors," ran before the Academy Awards on March 10. It is the tale of an adolescent kid whose bar mitzvah was disrupted by a bomb threat to a Jewish synagogue in Boston, Massachusetts, last year.

The video depicts how a church across the street rose up to help the boy's family and community by giving its space as a safe sanctuary for the ceremony to continue when it was abruptly interrupted by police sirens.

According to the charity, the one-minute advertisement also shows how antisemitic crimes are "skyrocketing in the US and globally," as "895 Jewish institutions in the US received bomb threats in 2023 alone."

The advertisement is part of the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism's $25 million "Stand Up to Jewish Hate" campaign and coincides with the one-year anniversary of the unveiling of the "blue square" as a "symbol of standing up to Jewish hate and all hate."

On X, a furious fan wrote, "Stand up to Jewish hate?? Since when is wanting freedom for Palestinians a way of hatred towards Jews?" Another user wondered, "Were they serious with that "stand up to Jewish hate" commercial?? I..."

One user tweeted, "Not a stand up against Jewish hate ad during the Oscars . I’m not surprised though." A fourth tweet read, "The United States pushing Zionist propaganda while Israel begins their ground invasion of Rafah is so typical, but are we surprised? Stop Jewish hate? There are thousands upon thousands of Muslims being slaughtered."

While further criticizing the ad, one wrote, "The Oscar’s displaying that “Jewish Hate” commercial is appalling." "Did anyone else peep that bogus “Stop Jewish Hate” commercial?" wrote another.

Tom Brady, Mike Tyson, Dave Matthews, and Jon Bon Jovi have all shown their support for the cause.

The organization stated, “While the mission started to fight the rise in antisemitism, it has since become an overarching call to action in the fight against all hate. The blue square has since become a universal symbol representing this anti-hate mission, and symbolizes the need to constantly stand up for others.”

The 'In Memoriam' segment of Oscars 2024 criticized

The Academy Awards' "In Memoriam" segment is drawing criticism online for "tone-deaf" changes. Along with the 2024 video, which comprised clips of celebrities who had died in the previous year, the piece featured an interpretive dance on the Oscars stage.

Viewers lambasted the Academy over the performance, claiming it was "not necessary" and a "bad call."

One user wrote, "Trying to watch that poorly shot #Oscars In Memoriam." Another user asked, "How many people can we fit on the stage at once for in the in memoriam segment to distract from honoring those that passed?"

Others who struggled wrote, "Me trying to make out who we lost during the In Memoriam." A fourth user slammed the Oscars writing, "I may be old-fashioned, but I preferred it when the In Memoriam was about the people who died and not about the singing and the dancing."

One complained, "How about a full screen of view of the in memoriam video so we can read the names? This is a terrible set up. Respectfully, the singers should not be the focus." Another continued, "The Academy/ producers: botched the [in] memoriam segment every time . Just show the ppl, no need for a performance. And STOP forgetting ppl."

Jimmy Kimmel responds to Trump's criticism of the Oscars as 'boring'

After former President Donald Trump resorted to social media to express his thoughts about the 2024 Oscars, host Jimmy Kimmel launched into an apparent spontaneous "Celebrities Read Mean Tweets" segment on the Sunday show.

"Doing this show is not about me. And I appreciate you having me. It's really about you and Emma (Stone) and all these great actors and actresses and filmmakers," Jimmy addressed the audience as the 3 ½-hour concert was closing down.

"But I was told we have, like, an extra minute, and I'm really proud of something. I was wondering if I could share it with you. I just got a review."

He then read Donald's Truth Social post, which the former president had put out less than an hour before.

It read, "Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars. His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be."

The post resumed, "Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed up, but cheap, ABC 'talent,' George Slopanopoulos. He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous. Also a really bad politically correct show tonight, and for years - Disjointed, boring, and very unfair."

"Why don’t they just give the Oscars to those that deserve them. Maybe that way their audience and TV ratings will come back from the depths. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

Jimmy stopped reading the remainder of the note after Donald mentioned George Stephanopoulos, who anchors ABC's 'This Week' and co-hosts 'Good Morning America', stating, "He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger and more glamorous, blah blah blah. Make America great again."

"See if you can guess which former president just posted that on Truth Social?" Jimmy said. "Thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching. Isn't it past your jail time?"

Ukrainian director receives Oscar award but wishes he 'never' made his film

After winning the Academy Award for Best Documentary, filmmaker Mstyslav Chernov expressed a desire to take it all back.

The film, '20 Days in Mariupol' by The Associated Press, transports viewers back to February 2022, when Russia first invaded Ukraine. The documentary chronicled the days of combat, agony, and human loss.

Mstyslav expressed his gratitude for the Oscar, noting that it was the first in Ukrainian history.

Nevertheless, he continued, "But probably I will be the first director on this stage who will say I wish I never made this film. I wish to be able to exchange this to Russia never attacking Ukraine, never occupying our cities. I wish to give all the recognition to Russia not killing tens of thousands of my fellow Ukrainians."

He added, "I wish for them to release all the hostages, all the soldiers who are protecting their lands, all the civilians who are now in their jails. But I cannot change the history. I cannot change the past."
