'He didn't gag at the throat spray': Internet hails Rian Johnson's major hint at Benoit Blanc's sexuality

Several social media users hailed the director Rian Johnson as he revealed a new detail about Daniel Craig’s character Benoit Blanc

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Several social media users hailed the ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ director Rian Johnson as he revealed a new detail about Daniel Craig’s character Benoit Blanc. At a press conference held during the London Film Festival, Johnson was asked if a particular scene proved that Daniel Craig's character was gay. He responded, "Yes, he obviously is," to the question. The claim was met by lots of reactions from the fans as one person wrote on Twitter, "Benoit Blanc being the only person not to gag at that throat spray. Okay Rian Johnson we get it he's gay.” 

“I just watched the movie and I can say that it is a masterpiece, just like the first part. Your main character Benoit Blanc is gay after all. Many viewers noticed that it was simply a topical agenda. Why was it so important to add that aspect to Daniel Craig's character?” another added. Someone wrote, “Benoit Blanc is the autistic gay detective we deserve.”

Another user noted, “Benoit Blanc did it again….I’m captivated by this beautiful gay sleuth.” “Everyone needs to watch glass onion NOW bc I just learned that Benoit Blanc is gay,” another added. “Benoit Blanc the only not gaging after that vaccine gun or whatever glass onion really said this man is gay,” yet another user remarked. 

Meanwhile, earlier, Rian Johnson disclosed that 'Knives Out 2' would go a little deeper into Benoit Blanc's personal life. Johnson was interviewed by Variety and they talked about the trailer for the film that premiered on Netflix on December 23. When asked if he discussed it with Craig, Johnson said, "We did, it was something that kind of came into being through the first movie and as we moved into the second. And it's just something that seemed like a very natural fact about the character. The movies are not - I wouldn't say our movies really explore sexuality to a huge degree, they're whodunnits."

"It seemed very natural that that was part of just who Benoit Blanc was,” he remarked. When the interviewer continued by saying it was encouraging for kids to see an openly gay character on screen, Johnson responded by saying, "Well, I mean, that's really wonderful to hear. That's really wonderful to hear."

‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ premiered globally on December 23 and is available to stream on Netflix.
