TBILISI, GEORGIA: Famous musician Dr Dre takes legal action against Majorie Taylor Greene for using his song 'Still D.R.E' in her new promotional video. The song which was released in 1999 has been popular as one of the most famous hip-hop songs of all time. It then returned to the Billboard Hot 100 after it was used in the Super Bowl halftime show in 2022.

The song by Dre and Snoop Dogg was featured in the video, in which Greene celebrated her part in helping get Kevin McCarthy elected as speaker of the House, reported Variety. Meanwhile, the video began with the Greene walking in slow motion through the halls of Congress. Later, Greene tweeted with the caption, “It’s time to begin.. and they can’t stop what’s coming."

Dre said, “I don’t license my music to politicians, especially someone as divisive and hateful as this one," as per TMZ. Greene opined, "While I appreciate the creative chord progression, I would never play your words of violence against women and police officers, and your glorification of the thug life and drug." Dre also wrote a letter to Greene and posted it on Twitter. However, the video has now been taken down from her profile.

Some of the main excerpts from the letter include, "You would have a passing familiarity with the laws of our country. It's possible, though, that laws governing intellectual property are a little too arcane and insufficiently populist for you to really have spent much time on." They added, "We're writing because we think an actual lawmaker should be making laws not breaking laws, especially those embodied in the constitution by the founding fathers."

'He still should sue her'

The internet quickly reacted to the incident. A user said, "So will she just blow this off and make no effort to respond? Time will tell." Another wondered, "Replying to @jeffpearlman @drdre and @RepMTGI have to wonder if MTG's team is aware of the concept of copyright infringement and just decided to go with it because surely Dr. Dre wouldn't object, or if this whole thing is a terrible surprise for them. "You mean people can just say NO?" Actor Michael Kelly opined, "And just like that @drdre “stopped what was coming” You are too easy girl. Back to the sandbox to eat some more crayons @mtgreenee." One user said, "Ouch! NICE! She got schooled!"

Well done, Dr. Dre. “And I still got love for the streets, it's the D-R-E…” A comment read, "Dr. Dre's attorney's letter does exactly the thing 'Marjorie Taylor Greene so incompetently attempts every day--clever snark." Another wrote, "What s brilliant slam!!! She should be ‘making laws - not breaking them’!!! Yes!!!!!."
