A mother-of-two came under fire after she introduced a new parenting hack in a newly shared TikTok video, but some found it 'genius'. In the viral video, Gabrielle Lynn Dunn (@mrs.gabidunn) demonstrated her "parenting tip" by putting her two kids inside a cardboard box with crayons. The mother then showed all the "things" she can do in the video, including a tranquil vacuum, while her children enjoy alone time in the box.

The TikTok user captioned the video, "Pure genius. Glad we hadn't broken the box down yet", which has more than 10 million views and almost 9000 comments. Gabriella acknowledged borrowing the concept from TikTok user Abby Franco, who boasted of completing "30 minutes of cleaning time" as her children played in cardboard boxes. She continued, without interrupting her two girls, "Glad we haven't broken that box yet."

Internet in splits

Commenting on Gabriella's video, one user commented, "Honestly, some mom's are so genius." Another user quipped, writing, "Thinking inside the box." A third user wrote, "Genius! My grandmother used to put me in one - now I know why." Not everyone found the concept to be particularly novel, claiming it is absolutely unnecessary. One user chimed in, "When they get bored and break out and use those crayons on the walls just remember it was your fault." Another user questioned, "Don't they have a bedroom to play in?" One more user added, "Imagine not wanting to hang out with your kids." One mother said that her children could never stay "trapped" for 30 minutes. "My boys would get bored and start wrestling and pulling each other around it," another said.

Some shared their experiences

Some acknowledged that their own parents had employed similar tactics. "When my parents bought a patio set I made a spaceship with the box and it is a prime core memory for me," one woman said. "We did this when we got out bathroom vanity. It was great for five days and then the box was too big for the house," another said. Some parents advised to "go one step further." "Add snacks next time and see how much more time you get, you are welcome." After going viral, the mother's video has garnered over 1.5 million likes.
