'He's throwing fists': Internet amused as ousted Rep George Santos targets Brandon Williams in bad-mouthing spree
WASHINGTON, DC: Former Long Island Representative George Santos ignited a social media storm as he took aim at Representative Brandon Williams (R-NY) for an altercation caught on camera at a lobbying firm’s holiday party in Washington, DC.
Williams, seen threatening a former staffer, claimed the aide had threatened his family. Defending himself on social media, Williams posted, "I will always fight to defend my family—and yours. Our nation and the world need passionate believers in the blessings we share, and that they are worth protecting. #NY22."
George Santos slams Brandon Williams
However, George Santos, who was expelled from Congress, did not hold back in his condemnation.
"He’s defending nothing but his bruised ego since 6 staffers walked out on him earlier this year for him being a pompous drunk jerk! Granted Congress is a high turnover place I had 2 staffers quit on me and I was under fire! That’s just to give you guys a barometer of the significance of his staff exodus. Rep Williams is a nasty man that has no place in Congress," Santos wrote.

Social media reacts to George Santos' comment
Social media users found amusement in Santos' scorched earth approach.
"That man brought barometers into this fight. He's throwing fists," one posted in response.
"They’ve gone and expelled the wrong guy. He’s ready to Spill. The. Tea. Get ‘em tiger," another wrote.
"Trump wasn’t kidding when he said the place is a swamp. I’d argue it’s a sewer, but nonetheless, the point is the same," someone else added.
"Just give us ALL the dirt. No holds barred!" another commented.

Video of spat emerges
The spat came to light after video footage, shared by Syracuse University student reporter Luke Radel, showed Williams confronting a man identified as his former chief of staff, Michael Gordon, at the party.
Williams pointed his finger at Gordon, warning him, "You f**k with my family, I’ll end every relationship you have. Every single friend!"
Gordon tried to defuse the situation, claiming he hadn't done anything, but Williams persisted, insisting, "Do you understand me?"
The confrontation escalated until a woman intervened, prompting Williams to suggest involving the police. The video concluded with Williams batting down the camera held by another former staffer, Ryan Sweeney.
Gordon, denying accusations made by Williams, asserted he hadn't said anything about the Congressman's family. Williams' spokesperson, Taylor Weyeneth, countered, claiming the two former staffers were fired earlier in the year and had made rude comments about Williams' family.
“These individuals planted stories with the media, and one of them physically shoved the Congressman at a holiday event (edited from the video),” Weyeneth wrote. “As a former nuclear submarine officer known for his temperament and poise, tonight should be a lesson to all, never go after this Navy Nuke’s family.”
Stephanie Williams, the Congressman's wife, spoke about feeling violated by the incident. “I fed him, we welcomed him in our home, we worshiped with him,” she told 'Semafor'. “I mean, I am overwhelmed with grief," she added.
Williams, facing re-election in 2024, had accused Santos of stealing from his campaign, deceiving donors, and engaging in fraudulent business practices. He also called for Santos' resignation, reported the New York Post.
