'Take power from that': Internet defends man who hurt girlfriend in her ‘most vulnerable moment'
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: The internet is standing firm in support of a man who hurt his girlfriend in her most vulnerable moment after learning that he is not the biological father of her baby. The man, who used a throwaway account on Reddit by the user ID u/throwaway3733339, said his girlfriend Sarah was six months pregnant when a guy named Bryan told him that he had been having sexual relations with her for over a year now.
Initially, he didn’t trust Bryan’s claims but then he gave him some pieces of evidence. “He then pulled out his phone to show the texts between them. They had been sleeping together or “linking up” for at least a year. Then she found out she was pregnant and they came to an agreement to just pretend the baby was mine. In return, she wouldn’t lose her perfect life and he wouldn’t be responsible for a baby,” the boyfriend wrote in a post on Reddit’s 'TrueOffMyChest' forum. This subreddit is quite similar to the popular AITA forum, but users don't need to add the 'AITA?' question in the title. The OP (Original Poster) said he knew something was weird when Sarah suddenly got pregnant after they experienced problems while trying for a baby.

The boyfriend kept himself calm and waited for the right time to tell his girlfriend that he knows the truth. “I’ve had a lot of time to think but ultimately I decided to wait until she gave birth. To hurt her in her most vulnerable moment.” He added. Soon, Sarah went into labor and welcomed her first child but instead of celebrating the moment, he packed his bag and gave her a shock. “What should’ve been a beautiful moment of me holding my baby, was the most heartbreaking time of my life. Just knowing he was not mine hurt me. Once she was sewn up and comfortable I started packing up my stuff to leave. She asked where I was going and I just told her.” The user wrote further in the post.
“I think I’m satisfied. I feel really really heartbroken though”
The OP told his girlfriend that “I know I’m not baby’s name’s father. You can act all shocked but I know. Just ask Bryan to come, I’m positive he’ll sign the birth certificate”. The boyfriend was left heartbroken after the revelation as he was planning to propose “to her on the day our baby was born. I was gonna make her the happiest woman ever.” “It was hard pretending these last few months but I think I’m satisfied. I feel really really heartbroken though.” he added.
In a further update, it was revealed that the OP later took a DNA test which clarified that he is not the father of Sarah’s child. "Bryan and the baby are a match so that pretty much answers that question. He’s very excited to be a dad, even despite the circumstances," the boyfriend wrote in another post. Talking about Sarah, he revealed that she asked Bryan to marry her but he refused her offer saying, he just want to co-parent for the sake of their child. “I wasn’t always the best guy but I treated her the best I could. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be. She started crying and I did give her a hug but I made sure she knew it wasn’t 'cause I cared about her.” He continued.
“Cheaters gonna cheat”
Sarah even offered the OP to stay friends but he declined and gave “her the stuffed animal I was planning to give “our” kid someday as a gift.” “She’s been staying with her mom and has fully moved out her stuff. She asked me to keep her number but I blocked her the same day she finished moving out.” He concluded. The boyfriend’s post has since garnered immense social media attention, with users offering their sympathy and support for his decision.
"I did a sigh of relief when I saw you're not married to this woman. Take power from that. You can move on much more easily." One user wrote. “So sorry that you’re going through this, friend! I hope you have a good evening at the bar! How did she react when you were leaving after telling her you knew?” the second user wrote while the third asserted "The next kid ain't gonna be Bryan's. Cheaters gonna cheat. Edit: I missed the part where it says Bryan will be co-parenting, not dating her. So I will rephrase Good thing Bryan isn't dating her because her next kid won't be his."
