Whitney's post immediately raked up several likes and sweet messages from her followers. Many of her followers could relate to Whitney's grief and took to the comments section to share their own personal accounts, while also reminiscing about Babs. A user commented, "I lost my mom many years ago. Watching you and Babs via tv gave me incredible sense of peace. It was like having a pseudo mommy for the motherless audience. She was truly a gift to the world. Sending you lots of love, light, and healing. That hole you are feeling is going to get easier to navigate-eventually. Hang in there." Another user wrote, "I L🤍VE this picture and I completely understand this being your favorite thing to do with your momma. Some of my best memories, when my mom was dying, was laying with her, just talking, laughing, crying, and being silly together. Some of our most intimate conversations we had were during the last 3 months of her life, in a bed, laying together, and just being! I know your pain, and I know it’s the toughest thing you’ll ever go through! 💜." "You were lucky to have a mother like Babs, and she was lucky to have a daughter like you!" expressed a user.

"You had a great mom, and that's something many of us can't say. Missing her is a byproduct of how much you loved her, so as painful as it is, it means that true love existed, and true love never dies, it just changes form. You'll be with your mom again one day. The sorrow we feel is for ourselves, and not for those we've lost, because they are in the most beautiful place that our minds can't even imagine it. I'm truly sorry for your loss Whitey. What a beautiful photo of you and your mom. You have been blessed. I never knew what it was like to have a mama like that," shared a user. "Thanks for sharing Babs with us. 🤍 Sending you love," added a user.

In the past, Whitney revealed that she felt like Babs was sending her "signs" after her death. Whitney shared the news of her mother’s death on Instagram with a video featuring photos of Babs. Whitney’s mother died on December 7, 2022, while watching her favorite movie with her family.
