'Close the front door': Idris Elba trolled as his fly remains open on BRIT Awards stage

At the 2022 BRIT Awards, Idris Elba had a minor issue with his pants. When the 49-year-old actor took the stage, it was evident that he hadn't double-checked his costume before going to the stage. While the star wore a pink leather Gucci jacket to make a statement, people couldn't get over the fact that he failed to zip up the fly on his black jeans.

Elba, who presented Adele with the 'MasterCard Album of the Year Award', didn't seem to notice he was having a wardrobe malfunction at first, but by the time Adele, the 33-year-old singer came on stage, he gently put the cards in front of his undone zipper. Trolls did not let Elba'sfashion faux pas go unnoticed. Rather, they took to Twitter as soon as they realized what had happened to call out 'The Suicide Squad' star, and the social media was flooded with jokes, memes, and observations.

One user joked, “@BRITs someone needs to tell Idris Elba to close the front door.” While another said, “Why the hell are people complaining that Idris Elba’s fly was open at The Brits? They’re acting like that’s not the best possible outcome.” “No matter how ropey I feel today I can at least be safe in the knowledge that Idris Elba feels worse #BRITs,” another troll added.

A fan was seen warning Elba saying, “@idriselba YOUR FLIES DOWN BRO #brits#brits2022.” Another one reacted, “No one thinks to tell Idris Elba his flies were down before he went on stage nah #brits.” “Award for wearing sunglasses in the toilet before you come on stage with your fly is undone goes too @idriselba#brits2022#brits,” yet another troll hilariously quipped. 

While Elba's entire wardrobe mishap was less than ideal, he is far from alone. Over the years, the BRIT Awards has seen its fair share of fashion disasters. Madonna, for example, made quite a stir with her much-anticipated performance in 2015. The singer intended to do a flawless clothing change on stage. That time, Madonna, being the consummate professional that she is, handled the situation admirably. Geri Halliwell, of the Spice Girls, had an on-screen mishap a few years ago. The 49-year-old singer's breasts popped out of her red sequin dress as she took the stage to claim an award. Despite the incident's unexpected nature, she laughed it off as she walked away from the stage.
