'The Imaginary' is set in a world where imaginary creatures coexist and face the threat of being hunted. The story centers on Rudger, an imaginary friend who resides in the attic with his creator, a girl named Amanda.

In this world, imaginary friends fade away when forgotten, but Rudger strives to survive. When Mr. Bunting, a hunter of imaginary beings, approaches, Rudger escapes the attic.

His journey leads him to a town where forgotten imaginary friends gather, embarking on an adventure that profoundly impacts his life and underscores the significance of familial connections.

The official plot synopsis reads, "Rudger is a boy no one can see, imagined by Amanda to share her thrilling make-believe adventures. When Rudger arrives alone at The Town of Imaginaries, where forgotten Imaginaries live and find work, he faces a mysterious threat."
