Writer and cartoonist William Steig created the mythical ogre Shrek as the central character of his fantasy comedy picture book 'Shrek!' published in 1990. Shrek, whose height is 7 ft (2.13 m or 213 cm) and weighs 204 kg (449 lbs),  is also the protagonist of the DreamWorks Animation film series and a musical.

The name 'Shrek' is derived from the German word Schreck, which means 'fright' or 'terror' in English. Shrek was voiced by Mike Myers in the movies, and Brian d'Arcy James primarily performed him in 'Shrek the Musical'.

The ogre character was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles on May 21, 2010. In June 2010, he was selected as one of the '100 Greatest Characters of the Last 20 Years' by Entertainment Weekly, ranking 15th.

Discussing the height of the fictional character, a user posted on X (formerly Twitter), "That's Cool and All, but Shrek is the strongest person in the Universe. First, the official Shrek wiki lists Shrek's weight at around 450 lbs. Now, certainly Shrek is taller than the average human, standing somewhere between 7ft and 8ft tall but is still significantly smaller when compared to the dragon."

Shrek or Donkey: Who is taller?

Donkey is a fictional character also created by William Steig and adapted for the Shrek franchise by DreamWorks Animation. Donkey is an anthropomorphic character who was modeled after a miniature donkey named Perry. He has gray fur, brown eyes, and a black mane and stands at a height of 5 ft (1.52 m or 152 cm).

Shrek is taller than Donkey by 2 ft but that doesn't stand in the way of their friendship. In the film, Donkey is Shrek's sidekick and best friend.

Donkey is also the husband to another fictional character called Dragon in the series and the father to a litter of Dronkeys (Dragon-Donkeys). Donkey, the series' comedic relief character, is loved by fans and critics alike for his wit, wisdom, and sense of humor.

Shrek's height compared to Princess Fiona

The fictional character Princess Fiona is also an ogre and 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m or 193 cm) tall making Shrek 8 inches taller. Princess Fiona is a character in DreamWorks' Shrek franchise, first appearing in the 1990 book 'Shrek!' and later in the animated film adaptation.

She is a princess who, under a curse, transforms into an ogre at night and eventually falls in love with Shrek. Fiona's origin and relationships are explored in subsequent films, including 'Shrek 2' (2004), 'Shrek the Third' (2007), and 'Shrek Forever After' (2010).

Voiced by Cameron Diaz, Fiona is considered a parody of traditional princesses in both fairy tales and animated Disney films. Despite criticism, Fiona is considered a feminist icon, subverting princesses and gender stereotypes.
