'House of the Dragon' Season 2: 6 most exciting things to expect from HBO's mega hit show
Contains spoilers and speculations for 'House of the Dragon' Season 2
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 will premiere on HBO on June 16, 2024. The epic season is anticipated to be bigger and better than any other season of 'House of the Dragon' and 'Game of Thrones' as it features the much anticipated Dance of the Dragons.
Dance of the Dragons is the Civil War that takes place in the Targaryen House and one that will have dire consequences on the House and the other houses in the Seven Kingdoms. As per George R.R. Martin's 'Fire and Blood', Dance of the Dragons lasted for two years and all of its events may not be covered in Season 2.
From the promos though, it seems that a significant portion of the battle will be covered in this season and it has all of us excited. Here is what we are most excited about heading into the second season.
Blood and Cheese
Season 1 ends with Lucerys Velaryon's (Elliot Grihault) death in the final episode. Season 2 starts with Daemon Targaryen's (Matt Smith) revenge with Blood and Cheese as Daemon hires two assassins to kill Aegon II Targaryen's (Tom Glynn-Carney) child.
The event is expected to be an exhibition of psychological warfare and gruesome violence that we have come to expect from this universe. Daemon's time in the Flea Bottom has given him familiarity with criminals and other small folk who would be willing to carry out such an activity.
Rhaenyra fighting on the battlefield
Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) hasn't fought on the battlefield yet but maybe now is the time that she gets on the back of her dragon and flies straight into the battlefield.
Rhaenyra has always sought adventure and the battle may be what destiny had written for her as she fights to claim the throne that she believes is rightfully hers.
Winterfell and Starks
As the promos arrived, we saw a glimpse of the snow-clad landscapes of Winterfell as the second season is expected to feature the return of Winterfell and the arrival of Lord Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor).
While he is expected to be subdued for this season, you will see Lord Cregan Stark become a very important character in the series as the Hour of the Wolf beckons for him.
Criston Cole and Alicent Hightower's relationship
Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel) and Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) have thus far had a relationship that is strictly about strategy and politics but rumors are rife about their relationship getting more personal.
If that happens, Criston could finally overcome his setback from the relationship with Rhaenyra, and Alicent could also feel love for the first time in her life.
Unexpected Deaths
There is one major battle expected to take place in this season and that is the Battle at Rook's Rest. The battle will feature an unexpected death and the death we suspect will be of Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best)
The battle will also feature strategic warfare and dragons fighting among each other to claim supremacy.
Rhaenyra takes King's Landing
Rhaenyra Targaryen is expected to take King's Landing and her seat on the Iron Throne. She will take the throne but that will not be the end of the battle as Aegon II Targaryen escapes to fight later.
King's Landing will come at the cost of many important characters as Rhaenyra begins her reign after a victory of Team Blacks.
