The first two episodes of ‘House of the Dragon’ have been phenomenal and featured a lot of drama. There haven’t been many action sequences in the first couple of episodes, but the writing has been so amazing that we never felt the need for those gigantic action scenes. However, the third episode will change everything because viewers will finally witness glimpses of ‘fire’ and ‘blood’.

HOTD’ has introduced us to many intriguing characters, but if there’s one character that viewers are dying to see then it’s undoubtedly the ‘Crab Feeder’. In some ways, he’s like Ramsay Bolton. Remember how he used to feed his enemies to the hounds, ‘Crab Feeder’ does the same, but he provides his enemies to the crabs, and trust us, it’s really uncomfortable to watch.

So, let’s get to know more about him and what he actually wants.

Who is the Crab Feeder? And why he is the enemy?

We first hear about the character in the first episode during the small council meeting and we get to know that the alliance is growing between the free cities that call themselves ‘The Triarchy’. The character, whose real name is Craghas Drahar, is like a Prince Admiral of this Triarchy.

“They have amassed on Bloodstone, and are presently ridding the Stepstones of its pirate infestation. A man called Craghas Drahar has styled himself the Prince Admiral of this Triarchy. They call him the Crabfeeder due to his inventive methods of punishing his enemies,” explained Lord Corlys Velaryon during the meeting.

‘The Triarchy’ is actually an alliance between three cities: Myr, Lys, and Tyrosh. Craghas became an important member of the alliance when defeated the Pirates and liberated the Stepstones. With this, he also helped in opening the trade route between Westeros and Essos, which turned out to be really crucial for King’s Landing.

During these times, Craghas was given the name of ‘Crab Feeder’ because of his unusual punishment methods. He would tie his enemies to the wooden logs on the beaches of Stepstones and wait for the rising tide so that crabs could feast on them. Another fact about Craghas that people should know is that he hails from Myr, one of the nine free cities.

So, why he is the enemy even when he opened the trade route for Westeros?

In the first episode, King Viserys made it clear that Craghas killing the pirates is not concerning, but he knows that Craghas and his allies are doing much more than that. As the meeting progresses, Lord Corlys said that four extra ships have now been lost and the last ship they lost was of his (Corlys) banner. It didn’t take much time to realize that the Crab Feeder is undoubtedly one of the biggest problems for Lord Corlys and his house.

Who plays Crab Feeder in ‘House of the Dragon’?

Craghas Drahar, who is also known as the Crab Feeder, is being portrayed by British actor Daniel Scott-Smith. He is a prominent stage actor who has been a part of theatre productions like ‘Sweeney Todd’, ‘Hamlet’, ‘The Invitation’, ‘Common’, and ‘Red Nose’. When it comes to feature films, he has been a part of one movie as of now and appeared in ‘Men in Black: International’.
