LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Oscars red carpet won't even be red! Host Jimmy Kimmel presented the roll-out of the 95th Academy Awards carpet, to be champagne-colored this year. On March 12 for the biggest event of the year for movies, a group of people moved a sizable rug along the famous Hollywood Boulevard.

The Oscars will be held at its customary location of the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and will be presented by the 55-year-old late-night talk show host. It is going to be held there for the 21st year in a row, including a broadcast in 2021 that alternated between the designated location and a remote site taking place at Union, in Los Angeles, as per Daily Mail.

'Is there going to be any violence this year?'

Kimmel said, "This carpet is so beautiful," as the new carpet was being placed outside the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. "People have been asking 'is there going to be any trouble this year?'" Kimmel quipped as he addressed the media present. He appeared to be referring to Will Smith's slap at Chris Rock last year.

"'Is there going to be any violence this year?' And we certainly hope not. But if there is, we made the decision to go with a champagne carpet rather than as red carpet shows how confident we are that no blood will be shed," Kimmel joked. Kimmel was hinting at the now infamous incident from last year's event when Smith smacked comedian Rock for making a joke about the Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

The Oscar event producers Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner were asked about the color change during a press conference, where the frenzied news of the champagne-colored carpet surfaced. Kirschner opted not to respond. In a light-hearted USA TODAY interview, the third-time Oscar host Kimmel joked that he had been "studying the martial arts since they asked me to host" in event of unplanned violence.

The infamous Oscars 2022 slap gate

Rock made fun of Pinkett Smith's shaved head when presenting the Oscar for Best Documentary at the ceremony at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. He compared her to Demi Moore's shaved-head appearance in the 1997 film 'GI Jane'. Although Pinkett Smith has alopecia, she refrained from laughing at the joke.

Smith then walked up to the stage and slapped Rock forcefully across the face. "Will Smith just smacked the s*** out of me," Rock remarked from the podium after being struck. Following his outburst, Smith went back to his seat and screamed at the shocked Rock, "Keep my wife's name out of your f***ing mouth!"

As a result, Smith was prohibited from attending for the following five years by the academy. Although he was still eligible for nomination, Smith's portrayal of a fugitive slave in Emancipation failed to win enough voters.

'Yellow Carpet just doesn’t sound right'

The champagne carpet, however, failed to impress Internet users. One user commented, "They can't get anything right lol. that carpets the same fkn ugly tan i have in my car, " "Yellow Carpet just doesn’t sound right," said another. One user commented, "It's impolite to say something like that on this occasion." "Gosh, does anyone care about #Oscars anymore except media? It used to be a big deal," exclaimed another user. One more user commented, "Guaranteed lowest viewed Oscar's ever bookmark it."
