'I'm not a victim': Chris Rock mocks Will Smith Oscars slap on Netflix live, fans say it's 'revenge'
BALTIMORE, MARYLAND: In his latest comedy special, Chris Rock poked fun at the controversial Will Smith Oscar moment. The comedian's comedy show 'Chris Rock: Selective Outrage' aired live on Netflix for the first time Saturday night from the Hippodrome Theater in Baltimore.
Chris opened his set from Baltimore saying, "I’m going to try to do a show tonight without offending nobody. I’m going to try my best, because you never know who might get triggered. People always say words hurt … anybody who says words hurt has never been punched in the face."

'Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face'
At one point in the performance, Chris, 58, mentioned the incident when Smith, 54, attacked him on stage at the Oscars on March 27, 2022, after Chris made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head.
"Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face," he said at the beginning of the live show, saying he'll attempt not to "trigger" anyone. Chris later joked about Snoop Dogg being in commercials and assured the crowd, "I love Snoop, I'm not dissing Snoop," The last thing I need is another crazed rapper, right?" without mentioning Smith by name.
Chris addressed several contemporary themes, including addiction, abortion, American racism, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and the Kardashian clan.
In his extended talk of the Oscars near the close of the broadcast, Chris says he's "not a victim, baby; you'll never see me on Oprah or Gayle, crying. You will never see it. Never gonna happen." He jokingly claimed that he got "smacked by Suge Smith." As reported, "Will practices selective outrage," says Chris.
"I got smacked at the f---ing Oscars by this m----f---er. And people are like, 'Did it hurt?' It still hurts!" said Chris. He also emphasized Smith's superior stature compared to himself. Chris continued to criticize Smith for his "entanglement" with his wife Jada, which made headlines, and for the Red Table Talk segment in which the two appeared.
Towards the end of the show, Chris said, "My whole life I’ve rooted for this m********r. And now, I watch Emancipation just to see him get whooped. Got me rooting for Massa, OK? Hit him again, Massa! Hit him again! You missed a spot! A lot of people go, ‘Chris, how come you didn’t do anything back? How come you didn’t do nothing back that night?’ Because I got parents. And you know what my parents taught me? Don’t fight in front of white people!" reports Rolling Stone.
Chris has not commented on the incident in interviews or on social media since the Oscars, but made several references to it during his comedy tour in the months immediately following the incident.
