'Homeland' Season 8 Episode 9 Preview: Carrie hunts for the Black Box, Saul puts Mike in his place

It's a dark eighth and final season of 'Homeland'. From branding Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) a fugitive to the deaths of two Presidents, and two pivotal characters, Max Piotrowski (Maury Sterling) and Hassam Haqqani (Numan Acar), the series has left nothing to chance as it dishes out an audacious and intriguing political thriller. 

'Thenrody(s)' was a shocker and it's pushed Carrie over the edge. The forced extraction attempt by the soldiers under the orders of Mike Dunne (Cliff Chamberlain) was an absolute disaster as Carrie teamed up with Yevgeny again to go in pursuit of the Black Box. 

Ahead of the new episode, Showtime released a sneak peek of Episode 9 'In Full Flight' that sees Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) take on Mike for the grave error he committed. You can watch the clip here:

The clip opens with Mike and Jenna Brag (Andrea Deck) tracking Carrie and hope to send another exfil team. Saul questions Mike about the move of grabbing Carrie. The Kabul station chief also tells Saul that a special-ops team is on its way to Carrie's location to which Saul orders him to stand them down. Mike accuses Carrie of running and attempts to explain the matter to Saul. The clip also suggests that Mike had no clue about the flight recorder that Carrie was tracking. The object that Max lost his life for. 

The official logline of Episode 9 reads: "Hayes has ideas. Carrie goes shopping. Tasneem has problems."

For now, it is safe to speculate that Tasneem's problems include Jalal Haqqani (Elham Ehsas), who after his father's death, has self-proclaimed to be the new leader of the Taliban and swears revenge on the people responsible for the death of his father. Meanwhile, the White House has its own issues with John Zabel (Hugh Dancy) hidden motives. His intentions as to why he's pulling these moves are unclear and at this stage, it's easy to suspect G'ulom (Mohammad Bakri) as the true mastermind behind the death of the President and the chaos.
