SZA is back with a new track! The R&B hitmaker, whose last album 'Ctrl' was both a commercial and critical success, dropped a brand new music video for the song 'Hit Different' featuring Ty Dolla $ign.

'Hit Different' is SZA's first new musical venture since February. Before this track with Ty Dolla $ign, her last collaboration was with Justin Timberlake on 'The Other Side' from the 'Trolls World Tour (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)'. SZA also featured on the track 'All the Stars' from the 'Black Panther' Soundtrack alongside Kendrick Lamar back in 2018.

'Hit Different', the music video of which has been directed by SZA herself, is a neo-soul track which shows the singer dance sensually in multiple locations such as a scrapyard and a barn. In multiple shots, the video also shows SZA covered in blood as she sings at the top of her voice in the back on a pickup truck. Ty Dolla $ign is also seen in the music video of the Neptunes-produced track.

"Hit different when I’m sitting here alone all by myself," Ty Dolla $ign sings. "Hit different when I think you might be with somebody else." "All that I know is/It was inside me," SZA sings. "May recognize you/Please don’t deny me."

The new track comes after the August controversy when SZA suggested on Twitter that Top Dawg Entertainment head Terrence "Punch" Henderson was delaying her releases. Her tweets started the hashtag #FreeSZA with fans flooding her with messages of support. Later, SZA defended her position and tweeted, "Don’t nobody need to free me. Lmao I’m not held hostage n either is my music!! Me n Punch be disagreeing…he’s never steered me wrong and I trust God’s timing. I love y’all." She went on to delete her tweets.

SZA has more music in the pipeline, as she had earlier revealed, with collaborations with artists like Lizzo, Megan Thee Stallion, Kehlani, and Jhené Aiko. She also recently featured on a number of tracks by other musicians such as DJ Khaled's track 'Just Us' from 'Father of Asahd', the song 'Power Is Power' alongside Travis Scott and The Weeknd from the 'Game of Thrones' tribute album 'For the Throne', and on the track Post Malone’s track 'Staring at the Sun' from the album 'Hollywood’s Bleeding'.

SZA is all set to drop her sophomore album later this year which is untitled as of yet.

The song soon garnered several reactions on Twitter. "This new SZA is sooo good. She looks gorgeous in this video. The goat blood went over my head tho," one tweet read and another said, "SZA! Omg the visuals! When the TRANSITION to the outro hit, I felt this wave of peace and serenity."

Moreover, when fans asked about the track that played at the end, SZA confirmed it's coming soon. "SZA confirms the track that plays at the end of the 'Hit Different' music video will be coming soon," one tweet read. Actress Yara Shahidi tweeted: "SZA AND CHLOE X HALLE REMIX??? SATURDAY MAY BE FOR THE BOYS BUT FRIDAY IS FOR THE GIIIIIRLS."

Soon after, SZA dropped a new snippet  from another track and wrote: "Punch gon kill me but I’m in a sharing mood."It sent Twitter into a tizzy and they just couldn't help but talk about when it will be out. "Sza sharing a snippet on Instagram of another song! I know that’s right! Sis said f**k the label," one tweet read and another said, "The snippet sza posted on ig..... i think she’s gonna save me omg." One went on to say: "SZA JUST DROPPED A SNIPPET OF A NEW SONF IT SOUNDS SO GOOD OMFFJDK."
