Singer-songwriter and rapper SZA has taken to social media to tease what looks like a new music video. The surprising post comes out of nowhere with no reports of her releasing any new music over the past couple of weeks. However, back in August last year, SZA did confirm to Kerwin Frost that a new album is set for 2020, saying that it is coming "soon as f**k,"

Announcing the imminent project with "Midnight" in the caption, SZA shared what is presumably a screenshot for a new music video where the singer is seen covered in blood, posing in the field but completely nude. She also revealed that the LP will feature some surprise special guests. At the time she revealed that Justin Timberlake, Post Malone, Jack Antonoff and Brockhampton were collaborators on her upcoming album and disclosed that she has been in the studio with each of them.

Speaking of her recording time with Timberlake, she said, “Before I was like, ‘What the f**k am I doing in the studio with Justin Timberlake right now? This is crazy.'" She added, "But when I heard his music and we started singing together... It’s like, ‘Oh, we speak the same language. The same frequency.’ I understood where he was going before he could finish a run."

The collaboration with Timberlake, titled 'The Other Side' was then released in February 2020 and marked her first song for 2020.

Fast-forward to July 2020, SZA spoke about not being too vocal about the upcoming LP in an interview with Wonderland Magazine. According to the publisher, she explained, “Deepak Chopra says that when you spend energy talking about something, you use the energy that you would have had to complete the project.” SZA noted, “I’m just trying to stop talking about it and, you know, do it.”

She then made another interesting statement about her creative process, saying, “The only reason is because I get creative control over this whole spread and I get to take my own pictures for once in my life. I get to dress how I wanna dress and light myself how I wanna light myself."

SZA added, "When you don’t get to decide how people see you, or what is even beauty to you, or anyone else… Through the lens of someone else it can just get real dangerous.”

It is not clear what the new material will be or its title, but we do know SZA has something big planned at midnight and we can't wait. Meanwhile, fans are excited to give it a listen as a couple of them readily welcomed her announcement with the 'loudest yes ever' while another said 'the way I needed this'. Another fan complained she was keeping him up past his bedtime.
