‘Hider in My House’ Review: Meghan Carrasquillo steals the show as Molly in riveting thriller
Lifetime is always known for bringing unique and strong stories on screens for its viewers. The network finally released its thriller titled ‘Hider in My House’. If you love watching a thriller that is a blend of fascinating history, a mysterious house, and a confident yet vulnerable protagonist, then this one is definitely for you. ‘Hider in My House’ doesn’t waste any time in getting our attention from the first scene. Directed by Dave Thomas, the film is about a rising author Molly Bachman (Meghan Carrasquillo) who buys a house from a real-estate manager.
Not everything seems fine for Molly who feels like she is constantly being followed and watched due to her nightmares about a particular night when a few years back when she had almost gotten kidnapped by a faceless stalker. Molly meets a man named Kyle (Thomas Gipson). He tries to impress her by helping her pick up the fallen groceries from the ground. He tries to swoon Molly which doesn’t work. He goes to her book signing first and falls in love with her.

Molly feels perturbed and uneasy when she has the same nightmare again for the second night ever since she moved into the house which scares her. Meanwhile, we see a man from another hidden side of the bathroom door amidst the wall cracks from his secret and hidden house watching her taking a bath which Molly doesn’t notice initially. The next day, she thinks about the same and it widens her doubts about nothing being right at the house.
Molly’s sister Bella (April Consalo) tells her to move on and give Kyle / Ethan (Thomas Gipson) a chance. After listening to her sister, she goes on a dinner date with him. The date goes really well and both start knowing each other. She develops affection for him and even shows him her home. She doesn’t know that looks can often be deceptive. Kyle ends up earning her trust and they start dating each other. However, Molly still wants to find out who her stalker could be and wants to know the secret behind strange voices coming from her bathroom wall.
Molly gets busy with writing her book the entire day and Kyle surprises her with Sushi. They have a fun night and even make love with each other. She wakes up from an eerie and chilling nightmare that shakes her up and tells the entire story to her boyfriend Kyle. He comforts her and tells her how he’s there for him. But in reality, he is the one making her feel scared each time from the hidden abandoned house which is connected with the wall of her bathroom.
The mystery about the stalker who watches Molly each day only gets more intense when Molly feels scared each time and ends up calling Kyle (Ethan) who is creepy and cunning and hides his sinister dark side behind the façade of a caring boyfriend to Molly. This only makes viewers more thrilled and excited enough to see who is exactly the person that lives in the hidden and abandoned house connected to the bathroom wall.
Overall, Meghan Carrasquillo as Molly and Thomas Gipson as both Kyle and Ethan gave an excellent performance in the film. While Carrasquillo proved her versatility as an actor by portraying Molly so flawlessly, Thomas Gipson stole the thunder by portraying two totally different characters, Kyle and Ethan, with ease and perfection. This film is definitely not for the faint-hearted. It’s a well-made movie filled with mystery and suspense that constantly kept viewers at the edge of their seats.
When it comes to acting, Carrasquillo proved her mettle as a versatile actor by showing the strong and confident side of Molly as an author as well as her vulnerable side. It looked like the role was tailor-made for her.
Meanwhile, April Consalo, Roman Boylen, and Marc Lucia have given exemplary performances as the supporting characters in the movie. Hats off to Ken Miyamoto for creating a gritty and riveting plot that kept all audiences glued to the screens.
Overall, ‘Hider in My Room’ is a very gripping and captivating film with amazing writing and brilliant performances blended with just the right doses of murder, drama, and thrill.
