Harry Potter reunion special: Fans react as makers mistake Emma Roberts for Emma Watson

HBO Max dropped the highly anticipated 'Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts' special on January 1. Return to Hogwarts marks 20 years of the release of the first Harry Potter film - Harry Potter and Sorcerer's Stone. The reunion special is about cast and crew returning to film's sets to share anecdotes and relive their memories of filming the eight films. 

In the reunion special, the childhood photo of 'The American Horror Story' actress, Emma Roberts, was accidentally featured in place of Emma Watson's. One twitter user who noticed the mistake wrote, "GUYS HELP ME THATS LITERALLY EMMA ROBERTS NOT EMMA WATSON" alongside sharing a screengrab of the special and throwback Instagram post from Emma Roberts. In the photo, young Roberts was seen wearing a pair of Minnie Mouse ears while eating breakfast.

Here is the childhood photo of Emma Roberts that was mistakenly featured in the reunion special. 

As of today, the tweet has been retweeted 1,130 times and has garnered 5,835 likes. One user wrote, “Half-assed reunion didn’t even do their research properly. Only good thing about the whole thing was the chemistry between Helena and Daniel.” Another user commented, “When I saw that photo last night, I thought, that…doesn’t look like Emma Watson? Am I wrong? Oh I have that Jasmine cup!” Another fan wrote, “Same!!! When I watched this and saw this photo, I said I’m pretty sure that was Emma Roberts followed by laughing emojis.” A disappointed Harry Potter fan wrote, “You had one job.”

The producers of 'Return to Hogwarts' have now admitted their mistake. In a statement released to Entertainment Weekly, the producers said, "Well spotted Harry Potter fans! You brought an editing mistake of mislabeled photograph to our attention". The statement further read that they will rectify the error soon and upload a corrected version of the special. 

Meanwhile, in the reunion special, Watson, 31 revealed that she almost departed from the role of Hermione Granger. "The fame thing had finally hit home in a big way," explaining how she felt a great deal of loneliness during that time. 

'The Little Women' actress also revealed that she fell in love with her co-star Tom Felton while shooting the movies. She recalled, "I walked into the room where we were having tutoring." "The assignment that had been given was to draw what you thought God looked like, and Tom had drawn a girl with a backward cap on a skateboard. And I just don't know how to say it - I just fell in love with him."

She added, "I used to come in every day and look for his number on the call sheet it was number seven, and if his name was on the call sheet, it was an extra exciting day." "He was three years above me and so for him, he was like, "You're like my little sister."
 
Felton said that he knew about Watson's crush on him. He said, "I think I was in the hair and make-up chair and someone said something along the lines of, "Yeah, she had a crush on you." "I became very protective over her. Yeah, I've always had a soft spot for her and that continues to this day. There's always been something that's like, I don't know, a kinship."
