After a successful run of ten seasons, the reboot of 'Hawaii Five-O' is coming to an end. CBS pulled the plug on the show as Alex O' Loughlin could not continue beyond the current season due to a shoulder injury he had suffered a number of years ago.

The action-crime drama series will conclude its 240-episode run with a two-hour finale on April 3, along with the original stars O' Loughlin as Lt Commander Steve McGarrett and Scott Caan as Detective Sergeant Danno Williams.

According to Deadline, speculation had been rife several years ago that O' Loughlin would be leaving the show, but he had stayed on, receiving stem cell treatment.

However, the pain gradually worsened, and he decided to take a step back when his contract ended after the tenth season. For a while, CBS considered whether to replace him and give Caan's Daano a new partner but finally decided to end the series.

In a statement, O' Loughlin said, "This show has been pretty much every waking moment for the last 10 years of my life. Everywhere I go on this planet, in every language, I am McGarrett to all these people. What we've done, what we’ve accomplished, it's extraordinary. I can't really put words to express my level of gratitude. I'm just glad to have been a part of this, a part of history and I'm going to miss it," he said.

He ended with a warm note to his fans, "I don't know how to thank you guys. Thank you for following us the way you have. I'm going to miss you. Aloha."

'Hawaii Five-O' has been a great success in more than 200 countries.  Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment, said, "It's never easy to say goodbye to a hit franchise that carried on the legacy of the original with such distinction while establishing its own signature style. We cannot be prouder of its quality, longevity and are thankful for the passionate fan-devotion it inspired."

The show had premiered in 2010.
