The deal between Enrique and Pincho

Enrique struck a deal with Picho in the second half of the movie. Enrique agreed to help Picho become Amanda's love interest in exchange for Picho helping Enrique steal and sell leftover cardboard from the store's storage area for cash. Another young employee at the business was Amanda. She regarded Picho as a close friend. Everything was going exactly like Enrique wanted, but Picho was furious when he saw Amanda kissing another man at the store party. He wanted out of the agreement since his heart had been broken.

Meanwhile, Enrique finally arranges the money to go to Mexico for the anniversary party of the radio station he used to work for, hoping to meet his long lost love Irma La Bomba. He asked both Picho and Amanda to come with him on a road trip to Mexico, and they both agreed. At the anniversary party, Enrique learned that La Bomba was dead. Enrique himself dies a few days later.

What happened to Picho and Amanda?

Initially, it seemed likely that Amanda and Picho would develop a romantic relationship while they were in Mexico because the two seemed to connect on some level, especially when they danced together in memory of La Bomba. At the end of the movie though, Picho goes back to his old home without Amanda. In the movie's final scene, we see Picho getting a haircut at a salon owned by Enrique's friend, whoa asks about Amanda. Picho said that she was still in Mexico with the man she kissed at the party. Picho came to terms with the fact that they were not destined to be together, but by the end he had found his identity and confidence.
