'Age of Attraction' EP comments on major news about show's future: 'We love concepts...'
Netflix's 'Age of Attraction' was a hit among reality TV fans looking for a welcome change. The dating show made headlines for its unique format, where age was more than just a number. In fact, it did not matter. The unscripted dating show, where people find love without knowing their potential partner's age, had the audience hooked after the pilot. It has now been renewed for Season 2. The news was confirmed by executive producers Jennifer O’Connell and Rebecca Quinn in a statement released Tuesday. A release date has not yet been revealed.
"We love concepts that are impossible to look away from, and 'Age of Attraction' nailed that from day one," O'Connell and Quinn said. "It's messy, it's real, and that's what makes it fun to watch. Huge thanks to Netflix for embracing this dating experiment with us. The response has been incredible, and we’re excited to push it even further in Season 2." Adding to the take were hosts Nick Viall and Natalie Joy Viall, who have an 18-year gap between themselves. "If people made a connection where there was an age difference, we just wanted to give them permission to explore what was great about that relationship," 'The Bachelor' alum told Fox News Digital earlier in March. "And not worry about outside voices because those outside voices aren't in the relationship."
The developments come on the back of the reunion special, releasing on Wednesday on the streamer. The standalone show will showcase couples who chose love on the show, revealing what life has been like after their time on the show. The renewal comes as good news after dating shows were rocked by the recent cancellation of ‘The Bachelorette.’ The latest also makes 'Age of Attraction' the first reality TV series to receive a second season order in nearly a year, per Variety.
The show's main premise is that people find love regardless of age. Since its debut on March 11, the show has opened to a whopping 3.8 million views in its first week and has stayed consistent with a steady 3.2 million in the second. The outlet further added that it was in the top 10 in 26 countries. Hosted by Nick and his 27-year-old wife, Natalie, 'Age of Attraction' made headlines for its immediate connection between couples, the show’s setting, and the eventual outcome after pairs’ dating on the show. While some have gone strong, there have been fizzles, too. Fans can catch the first season and the highly anticipated reunion on Netflix.
