The Hairy Grabster removes tangled hair from the hands and trap it in hundreds of hair-hungry bristles (Shark Tank/ ABC)

What is Hairy Grabster?

None of us strangers to the annoyance that comes with the broken hair strands being stuck to our palms while washing our hair. We hurriedly rinse our hands to get rid of the hair without realizing that this hair will eventually turn into a giant hair plug clogging our bathroom drain eventually. So, a simple and only solution to this product that is currently available in the market is Hairy Grabster.

Hairy Grabster is five inches by five inches, small rubber pad with bristles that can be attached to your bathroom wall (glass, ceramic, or tile) with the suction cup behind the product. Once it is attached to your wall, all you have to do is swipe your hand over the bristles to get rid of the lose hair stuck to your hand. The bristles easily trap the hair from your hands and keep your bathroom floor and hands hair-free. Cleaning the Hairy Grabster is a simple task too. You just have to gently pull the hair out of the bristles by either running a finger or a thin handle, just the way one would clean a hairbrush.

The product's website explains how it works, "After shampooing/conditioning, swipe each hair-covered hand over the HairyGrabster®. Start by swiping palm-side down and follow with the back of your hand. Repeat as necessary." Hairy Grabster is 3 solutions in one great product: Easily grabs hair tangled on hands, Traps hair in place, leaving shower walls and floor clean, and Catches hair before it clogs the drain.

Who are the founders?

An Illinois-based couple- Patty and Andy Watne are the founders of this innovative product. "First there was the flooded bathroom and the giant hair plug pulled from the drain. Then, the little balls of hair were dropped over the side of the shower. When the shower wall was covered with hair, we knew this problem needed to be solved. How can we handle all this loose hair? Our family gave it a lot of thought, and after much trial and error, we developed the HairyGrabster®. By simply swiping your hands over HairyGrabster®, it removes the stubborn hair from your hands, contains it, and keeps it out of your drains. We hope HairyGrabster® helps make your shower – and your day – a little easier," the Watnes reveal on their website.

In an interview with The Patch, the couple explained what prompted them to come up with hairy Grabster. "My husband started to ask me about the hair in the shower; he thought our daughter needed to see a doctor. He had no idea that people with longer hair shed so much daily. After I explained to him that it's a problem for so many people, we set out to find a solution," Patty explained. The couple also revealed that they spent two years of trial and error for prototyping and testing the product before they launched it online in 2019. Prior to becoming the CEO of The Watnes Group LLC (the company that produces Hairy Grabster), Patty was floral sales and design expert.

What is the cost and where to buy it?

This super useful bathroom gadget is available for purchase on the company's website, Amazon, and Walmart. The product is currently available in blue and white color variants and retails for $9.95 per piece. Hairy Grabster has received rave reviews from customers.

A happy customer reviewed on Amazon as the product that you need in your shower. "Your pipes will thank you, your family members will thank you and your wallet will thank you! I got two HairyGrabsters before they were sold on Amazon. They are great! They stick to the shower walls so well! Plus, all the weird little nubs really do grab the hair off your hands! Now there is a drawback... You'll be able to see how much hair you lose each shower instead of waiting to pull the hair monster out if the drain. So gone are the days of fooling yourself that it's just been a while since you last cleaned it out and that's why there is so much hair. Seriously, this is one thing you need in your shower that you never knew you needed."

How is the company doing?

Patty Watne shared with The Chicago Tribune that they sold a "few thousand" units of Hairy Grabster. The company seems to be doing well. The Watnes are currently working on releasing more design options and color variants for Hairy Grabster. Prior to the pandemic, the couple used to take the product to local salons and sell them there, but since the pandemic brought the whole world to stand still, they have shifted their focus entirely on online sales.

Who will steal the deal?

Lori Greiner on ‘Shark Tank’ (ABC)

Lori Greiner seems like the perfect shark for this product. However, the sharks will decide whether to make a deal or not based on the company's sales, profits, and demand, amongst several other factors. So, we will just have to watch the episode to see if the sharks even close a deal with the Watnes.

'Shark Tank' Season 12 airs on Fridays at 8/7c only on ABC.
