LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hailey Bieber thanked Selena Gomez for speaking out against the hate she received amid their ongoing feud. In light of the recent escalation of hostilities between their fan bases, Hailey thanked Selena for "speaking out."

In a statement posted to her Instagram story on Friday, March 24, Hailey said that the two had been "discussing the last few weeks." She added, "Her and I have been discussing the last few weeks how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I." Hailey continued, "The last few weeks have been very hard for everyone involved and millions of people are seeing so much hate around this which is extremely harmful. While social media is an incredible way to connect and build community, moments like this only create extreme division instead of bringing people together."

'We all need to be more thoughtful about what we post'

She continued, "Things can always be taken out of context or constructed differently than they were intended. We all need to be more thoughtful about what we post and what we say, including myself." Hailey concluded, "In the end, I believe love will always be bigger than hate and negativity, and there is always an opportunity to meet each other with more empathy and compassion."

This came after Selena urged her fans to stop sending death threats to Hailey after the model reached out to the singer regarding the ongoing online feud between them. In an Instagram story posted on Friday, March 24, Selena, 30, revealed, "Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity." The actress went on to express that no one should experience hate or bullying and she doesn't stand for it. "I've always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop," she said.

How did this feud between Hailey and Selena start?

Hailey and Selena's feud has recently intensified with Hailey allegedly bullying Selena online. The feud began when Hailey, along with Kendall Jenner and Justine Skye, mouthed the audio, "I'm not saying she deserved it, but God's timing is always right" in a now-deleted video. Fans speculated that Hailey was referring to Selena who had just been fat-shamed. Later, Hailey and Kylie Jenner were accused of mocking Selena's eyebrows on Instagram. While Kylie denied any involvement, Selena defended her friend Taylor Swift after a video resurfaced of Hailey shading her. The beef between the two stars dates back to 2018 when Hailey got engaged to Justin Bieber just months after he ended his on-and-off relationship with Selena for good.
