'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3': James Gunn responds to Vin Diesel, says he has 'no clue what Alpha Groot is'
One of the storylines Marvel fans are looking forward to in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3' is the introduction of Alpha Groot. Earlier this year, Vin Diesel, who voiced Groot revealed that the character's final form "Alpha Groot" would be seen in the third installment. Except, director James Gunn has no clue what the character is.
Gunn took to Instagram on Saturday, April 18, where he answered fan questions for well over an hour and was asked numerous queries on 'The Suicide Squad', 'GoTG Vol. 1, 2 and 3' and his favorite movies.
One of the questions read: "Will Alpha Groot be in GoTG Vol.3?" And Gunn promptly replied: "I have no clue what Alpha Groot is, so I'm going to have to give a pretty clear no to that."
This wasn't the first time Gunn had to clear up what Alpha Groot was all about. Earlier this year, he took to Twitter to respond to Diesel's idea of Alpha Groot. "Haha, no idea. Maybe he just means the most awesome Groot ever?" Gunn said when asked about the form of the character.
For all we know, Alpha Groot might not be much of a deal after all, especially when Gunn decides to tell the world it isn't. Plus he's the one helming the project, so maybe there's not much to Alpha Groot after all.
Last we saw the Guardians, Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and the team attended Tony Stark/ Iron Man's funeral in the final minutes of 'Avengers: Endgame'.
They later started searching for the missing 2014 Gamora (Zoe Saldana) when Thor (Chris Hemsworth) joins the team and hilariously dubs the team as "Asgardians of the Galaxy", while also engaging in playful banter with Quill as to who would lead the team.
Talking to Comicbook, Diesel while promoting his latest superhero flick 'Bloodshot' said he was excited for James Gunn to "knock this one out of the park".
He added, "He took 'The Suicide Squad' so he's about to embark on it. The director talked to me about how Thor will incorporate some of the 'Guardians of the Galaxy'. That'll be very interesting, nobody knows, maybe I shouldn't have said anything."
'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3' is yet to set an official release date.
