There's no denying that Baby Groot is one of the cutest creatures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Who can forget his introduction scene in 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2?' The film begins with a little dance by him.

In a recent Q& A session, filmmaker James Gunn was asked how long it took to make that scene. He answered, "Two years."

The little tree has spawned a staggering amount of merchandise as well as a concrete fan-base. But he isn't just cuteness, he has played a crucial role in all the inter-galactic showdowns, not to mention the final-faceoff with Thanos in 'Avengers: Endgame'. The character is voiced by none other than Vin Diesel.

The original Groot died at the end of the first GOTG, and his son Baby Groot took his place. However, Baby Groot isn't a baby anymore and has been growing steadily in the films. He was featured as a rebellious teenager in 'Avengers: Infinity War'.

Though he died during Thanos's snap, it was not before providing his arm for the handle of Thor's Stormbreaker's ax. He was later resurrected in 'Avengers: Endgame'.

In an interview with LadBible, Diesel was asked what he knew about his character in the third Guardians film. Diesel answered, "Two words — Alpha Groot," which hints at the growth of the character and that he might have a stronger and more significant role in the Marvel films.

Meanwhile, James Gunn has been giving teasing bits of information in his recent Q&A session on his Instagram stories. Apart from making it clear that there were no plans of a 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 4', he answered that a character might die in the third GOTG film.

However, it's going to be a long time before we get to see the third 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' film. In the face of the coronavirus pandemic, Marvel and Disney studios have had to reshuffle their film schedules.

'Black Widow' moved from May 1 to November 5, 'The Eternals' was pushed from November to February, 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' moved from next February to next May and so on.

So, in all probability, the third GOTG film would release in 2023. Gunn has emphatically said that he would not start pre-production work on 'Guardians 3' until his work on 'The Suicide Squad' is complete, which will hit theatres on August 6, 2021.

In his Q&A session, Gunn mentioned that 'The Suicide Squad' is on track and he has been editing it during the worldwide lockdown.

Much to the sorrow of fans, it was announced that the San Diego Comic-Con has been officially canceled due to the pandemic. Fans usually eagerly wait for Comic-Con as it is the place where studios discuss their latest projects and products.

Gunn tweeted, "It's the right thing to do, but I'm still sad to hear about #SDCC being canceled this year. I'll miss all of you. We as creators, studios, and publishers will have to find ways to make it up to you the fans in other ways."
