Oregon was the first US state to decriminalize possession of small amounts of cannabis back in 1973. In 2014, Measure 91 was approved and Oregon was set to legalize non-medical cultivation and use of marijuana from July 2015. Since then, it has been legal for an adult over the age of 21 to possess one ounce of cannabis flower in public and up to eight ounces within a private residence. In addition to dried material, an adult can possess one ounce of concentrate or extract purchased from a dispensary – homemade concentrates are illegal – 16 ounces of solid cannabis edibles and up to 72 ounces of liquid cannabis product. For cultivation purposes, an adult may possess up to 10 seeds and four immature cannabis plants.

For actor Jim Belushi, Oregon's legalization process happened the same year as he bought his plot of land in the state. The new laws encouraged him to try his hands at cultivating the crop, and so, the actor began growing cannabis in 2015 with only 28 plants in his pasture. Now expanded to a profitable brand, he tends 93 acres and several strains, including Belushi’s Secret Stash and a strain popularized on 'Saturday Night Live' in the 1970s, Captain Jack’s Gulzar Afghanica.

A new Discovery Channel series is set to take us behind the closed doors of Belushi's farm. Read on to know more details.
