'Greys Anatomy' Season 16 Episode 5: Fans are worried about Zola's fate on the show after she was rushed in for surgery
If you’ve binge-watched ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ for 16 years, you know that happiness is a very tricky concept on the show. Grey’s has taken away many, many fan favorites, including Lexie, Mark Sloan, George O’ Malley and of course, Derek Shepherd. They were all disposed off in plane and car crashes and horrifying road accidents. So there’s a rule on Grey’s, you have to try not to get attached too quickly to characters. It doesn’t work too well for you.
In Episode 5 of Grey’s season 16, Meredith’s daughter Zola had to be rushed to hospital as she threw up all over Mer’s shoe. Given Zola’s complicated medical past, Meredith was terribly anxious. Mer took her to Tom Koracick, who said that the little girl who has spina bifada, needed a shunt revision. Most of the episode was centered around Meredith waiting with Maggie and Amelia, while Zola was undergoing surgery.
The surgery was successful, but has that ever meant anything in Grey’s? Fans were anxious and are hoping against hope that Shonda Rhimes doesn’t do the unthinkable and harm Zola in any way. One fan wrote that she wasn’t going to celebrate Zola’s successful surgery just yet. “Yeah, I’m not celebrating Zola’s successful surgery just yet. I’m not new, I’ve been at this for 16 seasons now.”
Another tweeted, “Shonda better not mess with Zola again and she better stay in good health.” Another fan nervously wrote that it was “too easy” for Zola. “Is something bad coming?” However, most fans had one thing to say: “Ya’ll better not kill Zola off!”
Meanwhile, others were quite happy to see the loving motherly side of Meredith. "I love seeing Zola with her mom," one user wrote. ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Episode 5 titled ‘Breathe Again’ aired on ABC on October 25.
